I feel the same. I feel like ending it all.

These early stories about Monkey Pox spreading sort of remind me of the stories about two years ago about COVID-19. Surely that is just a coincidence, right??

Off Topic
For any conspiracy theorists out there, might there be a Monkey Pox conspiracy? Could some country have developed a new strain and begun spreading it around the world? (Of course, what country would do that? That would be as bad as sneaky radiological or chemical attacks on other country's soil!)

Really?
I can remember countless pre-covid epidemical alarms in media that turned out either local or not that bad.
There was even a meme about it in Poland - "gęsia ch*jnia" - "goose f*ckup" - was a satirical another media-hyped disease.

Monkey pox requires further research, surely. In worst case, we'll need to get smallpox shots again.

There’s always “something going around”—and it’s been that way since the beginning of humankind.

It’s not the end of the world—not by a long shot!

Not sure what your point is.

But its like THAT, and its like the West Nile Virus scare before that, and the bird flu before that, and other scares before that. Covid turned out to be the real thing. Several other recent scares fizzled, turned out to be nothing. But thats fine.

On one hand -we hafta keep vigilant because in the increasingly globalized world viruses do spread. But on the other hand only a fraction of these alarms actually turn out to be serious. Odds are against this particular strain of monkey pox become a serious pandemic. But down the road another covid like pandemic will spread the world again.

I think it's just after the all the covid crisis and everything, it's understandable that people are going to worry and panic about any viruses being mentioned on the news. I bet everyone in the world is going "oh no, not again..."

Monkeypox is described as being “self-limiting” with treatment. And there are antiviral treatments for it. Like cidofovir. And smallpox vaccine is used, too. And an immunoglobulin.

The 10% fatality rate is if it is left untreated. We are not in medieval times any longer.

OK. Folk don't think it will get bad...this time.

How long 'til the conspiracy theories start?

I'll worry when it's something bigger, like elephant pox or Whalepox.

Why worry about little things like monkeypox and COVID when there is an Autism pandemic?

They already started but they haven't gained momentum or reached here yet.

Must say I'm enjoying some of the jokes and memes going around, haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Apparently Biden has said that EVERYBODY should be worried about this, or words to that effect. If true then I'm looking forward to seeing who has learned something over the last two years and who hasn't. Happy to say some members of my family members are now finally coming round to my way of thinking. If this shift in trust and belief in governments caring about them plays out generally, then we're in for interesting times.
