you are exactly right. The AR-15 is the civilian semi-auto version of the actual assault rifles used by the miltary.Like in my state owning a full auto gun is legal but its so heavily restricted by the ATF and each specimen costs I would say tens of thousands maybe. Also actual Assault Rifles are not commonly used in American crime.Americians are far more likely to get murdered by a .22 LR revolver than a actual Assault rifle

This is how the American right responded to Mathew McConaughey's impassioned speech.

Antifa was quite happy to tote their guns during the BLM riots.
It isn't just the Republicans who want guns.

The world may go "kablam", but it doesn't change the fact that the problem of mass shootings is the result of mental illness. 8)

For one thing, krack down on the bullying culture.
Thugs have blood on their hands.
Mental illness is the cause of mass shootings.

Oh, Magoo.
The guy that Rittenhouse wounded was in the process of pointing his handgun at him.

And from memory, an 8 year old black girl was killed, presumably by an antifa gunman, when her mother made a wrong turn into antifa territory, during the BLM riots.

And elsewhere, a "progressive" shot and killed a Republican because he was in a dominant Democrat area, "and shouldn't have been there".

Seriously.

If only he had a swastika tattoo then the cops would have at least talked to him gently

Reinoehl had admitted to killing Danielson in an interview shortly before his death, but claimed it was self-defense,[15] however, according to police, Reinoel had followed and targeted Danielson.
Danielson's killing was the first time in over 26 years that a self-identified anti-fascist activist had been charged with homicide.

40% of republicans and 23% of democrats support violent insurrection

While supporters of both parties are implicit, there seems to be an awful number of gun carrying GOP supporters in those numbers.

School shooters seem to be young. Other mass shooters seem to not pick schools.

Like all other kids (where I was growing up) I had to undergo mental and developmental evaluation to start school.
The screener psychologist found me intellectually fit for school per my official record but warned my mom about my social development and my tendency toward self-isolation. In the early 90s they weren't diagnosing with autism or ADHD. My mom got mad at the psychologist, and chose to ignore that. She got additional warnings when I kept getting rejected by entrance committees at public schools (which is improper), them citing that I could be too disruptive, suggesting I instead seek enrollment at a special needs school. Eventually, a school was found that agreed to accept me, where I was doing fine, more or less. It was abnormally far away for a public school.

I don't recall doing that again, which perhaps would have helped me a lot later on. I struggled much socially in the later years in school, so likely it would have been much help to me and any other young people who struggle socially or with other mental ailments. All of the school shooters seemed to have had difficulties with social development. Yeah, periodic mental health screenings in schools are the solution.

For me that could have meant getting diagnosed early and receiving help I needed, as I struggled much as a young adult, and was only able to rehabilitate my life on my own by studying autism and developing ways to overcome my challenges.

I don't want to be a naysayer, because I do think that mental health screenings in schools can help identify and get children the help needed before it results in mass shooting in schools. However, as we have seen in the recent past, there are many people who wouldn't even wear masks let alone get vaccinated to protect themselves and loved ones from covid. Do you really think these same people will allow their children to get a mental health screenings in school?

Quote:
On June 14, 2017, during a practice session for the annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity in Alexandria, Virginia, James Hodgkinson conducted a mass shooting in which the victims shot included U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, U.S. Capitol police officer Crystal Griner, congressional aide Zack Barth, and lobbyist Matt Mika. A ten-minute shootout took place between Hodgkinson and officers from the Capitol and Alexandria Police before officers shot Hodgkinson, who died from his wounds later that day at the George Washington University Hospital.[7][8] Scalise and Mika were taken to nearby hospitals where they underwent surgery.[9]

Hodgkinson was a left-wing political activist[10][11] from Belleville, Illinois, while Scalise was a Republican member of Congress. The Virginia Attorney General concluded Hodgkinson's attack was "an act of terrorism... fueled by rage against Republican legislators".[12] Scalise was the first sitting member of Congress to have been shot since Arizona Representative Gabby Giffords was shot in 2011.[13]

In a 2021 report, the FBI classified the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism, and the perpetrator of the shooting as a "domestic violent extremist" with a "personalized violent ideology."[14][15]
