I would not put money on it being true.

The claimant just doesnt have the right shaped face to be the offspring of the parents. To long a face. Too much chin. Though there are some similarities.

I am curious why she believes she is Madeleine McAnn and secondly why somebody with an English surname (Wendell) is living in Poland?

It's not strictly an English surname:

Wendell is a name of uncertain origin. It may derive from the Germanic Wenden (to travel) or possibly from the term Wend, the historical name of a Slavic people living in Germany

I'd bet on immigration before coincidence. It's not like immigration is a new phenomenon.

An example (not directly relevant) is the surname Taliaferro in Virginia.

Quote:
The surname in that line is believed to trace back to Bartholomew Taliaferro, a native of Venice and subject of the Duke of Venice, who settled in London and was made a denizen in 1562.

This does look strikingly similar, I can certainly see what all the fuss is about

I can quickly find pictures of my daughter that look much closer to the photo of Madeline than hers. And I know my daughter is NOT Madeline.

A few hours old but it appears Wendell has
1. The same moles
2. The same freckles
3. The same eye defect as Maddie

Must admit it's getting weird

I can't see the coloboma in her eye, even on the photo she claims shows it.
If that's not there, she can't be Madeleine.

Her claim is difficult to prove without corroborating evidence, but here's the clincher

Julia Wendell was sexually abused as a child and her alleged abuser was "Peter Ney" who is the son of Martin Ney.

German child killer, Martin Ney, was once suspected of being involved in Madeleine’s disappearance and is serving a life sentence in prison for the murder of three young boys and the abuse of several other kids.

Well...now it's got interesting.

The Mcann's believe her (I imagine they are the best judges of the similarity this woman displays to themselves)

They have agreed for her to get a DNA test....now we wait

I don't want to read the gory details on this ^, but why is he "alleged" ?

Was he just identified?

Who raised her?

My heart breaks for Julia either way.

It doesn't say they believe her. It says they've agreed to a DNA test. Once on file, that can be used to deal with all the claims that are likely to continue to come up.

We all want to believe that Maddie is still alive and able to figure out she is one who was stolen. But odds remain against it, and her parents surely know that.

I think the Mcann's wouldn't go through with it if they didn't think Julia carried the markers her daughter carried.

Ok...now this story get's even weirder.

In Switzerland they claim Julia Wendell is missing toddler Livia Schepp

Twins Alessia and Livia Schepp disappeared on January 30, 2011, from the suburb of Saint-Sulpice in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Their father Matthias Schepp picked up his daughters from his ex-wife’s home so they could spend the weekend together, but the girls were never returned.

Their mother Irina Lucidi Schepp reported her concerns to the police, which instigated a wide-scale hunt that expanded across Switzerland, France and Italy.
A few days later on the morning of February 3rd, 2011, their father Matthias was spotted by some locals in Naples, Italy.

That night, his body was recovered by police after it was discovered that he had taken his own life.

The girls have never been found.

While the most widely-accepted theory is that Matthias killed Alessia and Livia, their bodies have never been discovered.

The twins are still classed as missing and their case remains unsolved.

If still alive today, the pair would be turning 19 years old in October.

Here is Schepp and Wendell side by side

The second child looks like a better match, simply from photos.

These cases are always weird. Super super rare that the claimant is who they say/think they are.

You may have noticed this claimant is showing a million followers. That is enough to get some serious earnings on her account from brand deals. In other words, plenty of motivation to make a story up.
