I tend to be progressive in my views. Because somebody doesn't agree with me doesn't mean I threaten them with violence. To me the right has become like a petulant child who doesn't get its way and throws a tantrum. I feel that 50 caliber machine guns should be mounted at the White House to prevent something like Jan 6 from happening again

In Texas, the most "progressive" thing we have going is that we're down to only five dry counties.

It's like the UK has become a kakistocracy too (Greek word meaning a government that is basically ruled by incompetent and selfish leaders who would literally ruin their own country to protect their self-interests).

Both our countries are now ruled by kakistocrats and the idiots who enable them. So you guys have my deepest sympathies. :|

That is an excellent description of the UK government. They are asset stripping our country in order to line their pockets. Even if they are voted out at the next election, they will leave a wasteland for the next government to sort out...

Good luck in the US too!

Its strange but while many of the wealthy in Australia disdain climate change, they actually support conservation.

This theme was quite big as early as the 1970s when I was exposed to a younger Attenborough talking about the dangers of deforestation in the Amazon and the loss of species. At this time Jacques Cousteau spread the message of oceans being polluted and fish disappearing due to overfishing. Many of the rich and famous became advocates for saving cuddly koalas and endangered frogs or turtles.

Nothing has changed. if anything it's gotten worse. I recall a famous English writer/conservationist Gerald Durrell visiting China in the early 1980s which at the time was going through exponential industrial growth. Being invited to the Chinese version of the WWF their organisers shocked him by serving him an endangered species of dolphin for welcome to China dinner, Durrell was incensed and stormed out of the room. The Chinese organisers were confused about the concept of conservation. They thought conserving animals in native habitats was for the purpose of having a plentiful supply for the wet markets (the irony of that shouldn't be lost on those who followed the rise of COVID19).

In Africa conservation in places like South Africa again is so that there is a steady supply of big game for hunters. One of the proponents of conservation for hunting is Donald Trump Jr.

So the irony here is communist china and socialist Africa are for exploiting nature....whereas the wealthy in the west want to conserve animals and plants. But in the end everyone has some ulterior motive.

I don't think David Attenborough has some ulterior motive. He is pointing out that climate change is damaging wildlife and the Earth beyond repair. That isn't a left or right wing opinion, it's just facts. The BBC pandering to the right wingers is dangerous, stupid and anti democratic.

David Attenborough is an institution. Like his brother: film director Richard Attenborough.

He is a big fish for the BBC to censor. Either he did something really heinous. OR...he offended some VERY powerful interest groups...powerful enough to bend the BBC to their will.

It is a 6 part series and the 6th episode will not be aired ( but it will still be available on the BBC iPlayer). The episode in question is apparently

Quote:
a stark look at the losses of nature in the UK and what has caused the declines. It is also understood to include some examples of rewilding, a concept that has been controversial in some rightwing circles.

I'm talking about some wealthy people. Attenborough was the medium for transferring the information.

Labour and Farage must be loving this as it will polarise opinion to the left or right and either way make the tories look incompetant.

Thanks to our FPTP voting system Farage won't get a single MP. :)

Personally I can't stand the bloke.
