/\Me too.
Now they are a part of the history of the Titanic, not that they wanted to be.

With several ways to surface, this guy figures either they snagged on the bottom - highly unlikely as the only thing there is the Titanic - or the hull was breached and they instantly imploded:

Wonder if there is debris when something implodes, like there is with a crash?

My guess is it would mostly stay intact like a crushed beer cab with maybe a few broken or loose bits floating off/very nearby.

Yes, a debris field is created.

That's the wreck of the USS Thresher.

There's both a crushing and a simultaneous explosion similar to what occurs in a diesel engine (the air gets crushed until it consumes everything combustible, at which point it explodes).

It isn't just like a mechanical crushing, it's a more like upon failure the increase in pressure intruding causes the item to explode.

The structure is designed to resist crushing pressure, not outward pressure.

Ignoring that it's designed to resist internal pressure, think of the opposite of a beer can exploding; if a very high pressure both enveloped and pieced the can (the can being relatively low pressure to the outside environment), the very high pressure would cause an increase in internal pressure, this would cause the structure to fail outwards. The increase in pressure might even cause the beer to increase in temperature enough to boil, which would ensure a violent outward failure, even with all the pressure resisting.

Eventually the structure fails catastrophically and is at the mercy of the equalizing pressures. When the pressures involved are significant there's a lot of energy to interact with the failing structure.

Those are internal components from the Thresher left strewed from when it failed.

I hope something floats or they may never find it.

At that depth, something that would normally float would likely be compressed so much as to actually sink.

'Banging sounds' heard in 30-minute intervals - US media

Shortly after midnight local time in Newfoundland, Canada, the first reports emerged of potential signs of hope.

Two US media outlets reported a leaked internal memo sent to the US Deparment of Homeland Security.

This said a Canadian aircraft had detected underwater "banging sounds" in 30-minute intervals coming from the search area.

"The P8 [seacraft] heard banging sounds in the area every 30 minutes. Four hours later additional sonar was deployed and banging was still heard," Rolling Stone magazine reported the email as saying.

CNN also reported an internal update sent Tuesday night, which suggested more sounds were picked up.

“Additional acoustic feedback was heard and will assist in vectoring surface assets and also indicating continued hope of survivors,” said the second memo according to CNN's report.

More updates and a bit of hope that a remote operated vehicle from a modern cable laying boat can find & rescue them:

So now there may be two Titanic disasters in history.Hopefully not. I really hope they survive and that all are rescued.

Nah; this one is the Titan, not Titanic.

There is hope, but that hope is dwindling incrementally with each tick of the clock.

It would take a miracle for these men to be rescued. :(

No beacon, emergency signal? If not, I'm guessing the technology went down. Terrible! Whatever happened, I hope at least there's no water pouring in. They'll just go to sleep at the bottom of the sea, that's some small consolation. Though admittedly not much...

The owner did not want to be tracked, as it would give away the exact location of the wreck. He wanted that information kept private to prevent looters/visitors from getting to the site. The search area for the missing mini sub is as large as the state of Maine.
