It’s the politicians and media that get in the way. Not that that I don’t believe that that US policy should be set by elected officials. I surely do. It’s that once it’s been decided by those elected officials to take military action upon a country then the objectives should be tuned over to the military officials to do what needs doing. That’s why they go to West Point, Annapolis, Air Force Academy, VMI, and whatnot.
It’s not that I don’t believe in freedom of press, either. I do. However, those whom take on the task of reporting the news need to remember that it comes with some moral responsibility. Report the news as it is whether the war/military action in question is sanctioned by their political party or not. Let the public form their own opinions. And report on events without compromising the security of military operations.
In world opinion it seems that we’re dammed if we do and damned if we don’t so lets just do what needs doing and not worry too much about hurting the feelings of others. Especially the countries that we’ve defeated or liberated at some time before.
