I thought it was hilarious the way the Kiwi media were desperately trying to turn the whole thing into a "serious terror plot". When I heard they had bought their terrorist balaclavas on Trade Me I almost wet myself laughing. I've met Tame Iti and he seems like a good fella. But with a full face Moko he's hardly stealthy is he?

I think we all know that NZ is a hot-house of militant P-addicts, killer-dogs and terrorists.

Clearly if the police had tazors, none of this would have happened (except maybe the killer-dogs, they're endemic and can only be controlled by micro chipping the dogs of those law abiding owners responsible enough to have their dogs chipped)...

Actually they might have a point about the canines....sure looks like we're going to the dogs.

Shame you feel that way. IMHO this is one of the best countries in the world and I wouldn't live anywhere else. I've travelled widely and as an indie journo I feel safe in NZ. If I see cops here I smile at them not feel uneasy. It's not perfect but where is?

I love it here and don't plan on leaving, however we do have some s**t to sort out still, it's cool, I am actually totally confident we will.

Exactly.

I just happen to think that on our list of priorities, legislative knee jerk reactions to the media drama of the moment, are of greater concern than Tame Iti and his mates.

My 'top of the list problems' would have to be the balance of priorities in the economy and the impact of farming on our environment.

Our balance between work/life and income/cost of living/cost of housing is all screwed up.

We need to address making our land use more sustainable and our recycling system needs to by revamped to either handle more different categories of recyclables or our producers need to only start using glass, 1 and 2, things like that.. Of course nationalising the fuel industry like Norm Kirk wanted would also be a good move, though I imagine we would get added to the 'axis of evil' if we dealt with Iran or Venezuela direct and bypassed the parasites...

kia kaha, peace j
