No need to make a big deal out of it. Such things are gonna happen. There are a lot worse things he could have said.....and he didn't.

The "white sheets" reminds me of something I read on a message board. Someone wrote that people in the South hang white sheets from their windows on March 1st to celebrate the end of black history month. I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

It kinda is... The woman butted in line, argued, and threatened physical violence. It was a rather witty commment to make in the situation.

Considering the history of white sheets and racism, it wasn't funny in the least. A truly funny comment would've been based on actions, not race.

I've experienced some statements from my daughter that on the surface seem terrible.

Example:

Situation...Daughter playing with neighbor kids.
Daughter makes statement about playmates little brother......Something along the line of..."I wish he would go away".
Neighbor kids mother says.....But "Little Timmy will always be with us"
Daughter answers "Not if he's DEAD!"

Literally true.
Needless to say my daughter is learning that this is inappropriate.

But not a unusal statement if you know anything about AS.

This is not entirely true. The idea that "race" being completely taboo is in error, and saying racial comments can never be funny is also in error. I have heard numerous jokes about my race that I found hillarious. Some could argue that how such a joke is delievered, by who, and with what intent makes a difference. In other words, if the person speaking it did not understand how the statement could considered denegrating, then it was not. When compared to an overt threat of violence, the "sheets" comment was witty. Of course, maybe I'm wrong, and a truelly funny comment could have been something based on actions, like "have a nice trip" as he decked the girl...?
