It is sad to hear of his passing. What a wonderful legacy he leaves, though.

"The Nine Billion Names of God" what a story ! ! I'll never forget the ending ....

We have lost another great writer.

An intelligent and moving eulogy.

When I was about fourteen, I found a bunch of yellow-jacketed books in the school library. And they were full of stories that blew me away, and showed me that the universe was an amazing place, and that anything was possible for us humans, if we had the will and the knowledge.

Farewell.

His reputation in the West is great but he doesn’t deserve it.

In Sri Lanka where he lives, I’ve heard from those from the place, he is really hated and notorious with everyone for being a horrible and corrupt child abuser who takes advantage of the local poverty and such.

He was supposed to be a bit of a pedophile, but that's Urban Legend.

to call it "Urban Legend" is another way people in the West can ignore and deny a reality that interfers with a rosy (and ridiculous) mythology surrounding his greatness. He lived his whole life exploiting and hurting the less fortunate and advantaged while everyone turns a blind eye.

His ruthless behavior is common knowlege where he lives, and its much worse than that according to what I have heard. People in the West deliberatly ignore this, they allow it because of his success and because it is not happening in America.
