OK, so you managed to find an example of sloppy and over-simplified reporting by the popular media. What else is new? I'm really not all that impressed. Even your blatantly biased source admits that the actual scientific article was more reasonable than any of that, but you prefer to straw-man and attack the views of popular new outlets as though that was the actual science.

HA HA HA! I just read part of that article you linked to. They openly reject uniformitarianism? 
How can you take these losers seriously? I mean, if you reject uniformitarianism you can basically just make crap up and any explanation is as good as any other. You also kind of have to throw out all science, of any kind.

Lagerstatten sites (places with lots of well preserved fossils) are awesome. Up in NE China there is that Lagerstatte where there are feathered dinosaurs, mammals fossilized with their fur, delicate little reptiles, primitive birds, etc. that is just spectacular.
