dont know how they managed to know what was going on on them when they were private BT:

Quote:
The swoop comes more than seven months after OiNK.cd was shutdown by a widely-publicised raid at the Middlesbrough home of its adminstrator, 24-year old IT worker Alan Ellis. A coordinated move by Dutch authorities also seized the invitation-only website's servers, which were later returned wiped.

I do worry that with the way western governments are navigating along a bearing whose horizon has fascism on it, at some point I'll have to invest in a ceramic case and install thermite charges above my hard drives, and keep my CDs in a microwave.

What's next, are they gonna jack mp3 players and iPods as well? Not on my watch. Personally I would fight this law just because it's a gross misrepresentation of our countries priorities. I mean, we're harping on illegal mp3's when our borders are unprotected, our economy is FUBAR, and Osama bin Laden and the rest of Terrorism Incorporated are running circles around our forces in the Middle East? Stop the nonsense, people! A couple of free-download J-rock mp3's are not going to hurt as much as 5-dollar gas or a 747 into the White House! Deal with the serious issues first!

You are absolutely correct. That would be their priority if they were actually looking out for the best interests of the people. Not the corporatocracy.

Their top priority is to micromanage every facet of our lives. They'll use terrorist fears, global warming fears, school shooting fears, political correction, drug prohibition, draconian interpretation of copyright laws, the classic "for the children" line, ANYTHING they think the public will buy to forward this agenda. Only when you realize this, do their seemingly asinine missteps make any sense whatsoever.

Why would the corporatocracy want this? Very simple... totalitarian government = limited choices = monopoly = maximized profits.

How do we counter this agenda? Well, as much as I think the New Deal was a raw deal, I have to credit FDR for his historic speech containing the meme that will defeat them. "The only thing we have to FEAR is FEAR ITSELF." We must remind our legislators of this every time they tell us they have a new bill to protect us.
