their lucky they are getting moldy cookies, if I was in charge, it would be soggy mildewed crackers and a refreshing glass of ditch water.

This would indicate that he used his own limited funds (prisoners don't get to have much money) to buy the cookies himself. I don't think cookies are much of a luxury, myself.

I believe that the point is that he got the cookies at the only place available to him, probably overpriced, and that he did not inspect his cookies for defects before eating them. Do you inspect your cookies? Most people don't. I think most people have had the experience of finding mold in a partially-consumed loaf of bread. Do you inspect all the slices in your loaf before eating?

I don't know if this merits a lawsuit if the mold was hard enough to spot that he didn't see it right away, but I do think he MAY be entitled to something because the prison controls everything to which prisoners have access, and he was harmed. The prison is supposed to supply only non-deleterious food to prisoners. This is the same as requiring functioning toilets, heat in winter, etc. and is not pampering.


A lot of prisons will not allow visitors to bring in snacks for prisoners. They have to be purchased from the canteen. Putting him in the infirmary is not "coddling". Aside from potentially making others sick if he was left in general population, they would have to watch him for dehydration which could very easily happen with vomiting and diarrhea.

that is only to be assumed.. but how many innocent people go to prisons, and get gangraped in there.. f**k I actually feel sorry for some of them. the punishment is supposed to be the prison term, not food poisoning..

prisons shouldn't be a bull ring, but that's what they become :x i don find it particularly charming.. a lot of non-violent people go to prisons too ya know.. people go away for simply hacking into someone's computer.. that's a completely non-violent crime.. should someone suffer hell and worse for that?.. what ever happened to forgiveness?


What ever happened to respect for not committing crimes in the first place?


the same thing that happened to respect for the hypocrites in govt who get to define what is & isnt a crime ;)


and let us not forget the innocent ones who get sucked into this ring of terror.. the criminal system is too damn severe and it only gets worse.. i used to think maybe it was okay.. but now as a mature grown man (well maybe not quite yet) i see how many of these punishments are not justice.. trying to make an example out of someone tends to not work and you'd think they would get that through their heads.. no, the justice system should be full of justice, not full of torcher and fear.

No, the criminal system isn't severe enough. A life sentence, for example, is never actually a life sentence.

that's just a detestable attitude.. judges shouldn't even be allowed to judge but they do.. who can judge who, when we are all guilty of something?.. the only difference is one man gets caught and is put away for longer than the crime was worth.. for vandalising property you can get 4 years in prison.. for robbing a convenience store with a plastic gun you can get a life sentence.. sorry but justice is only a biased opinion, handed out by those who are sick of seeing the same thing over and over so they only raise the penalty, and lower the moral of our world once again.. aside from murderers, most punishments are just not equal to the crime..

get caught with 100g of drugs & you go to prison, get caught with enough kilos & you get let off (such an example was in the UK press recently)

Create £k cash out of nothing and you go to prison (forgery). Create £b credit out of nothing... This is how the banking system (fractional reserve) actually works!
