Maybe that has to do with shooting women for refusing sex apparently not being considered a crime.

In case anyone finds this relevant, Australia is a big country - about 80% as large as the continental U.S. The population is about 22 million. As in the U.S., there are regional differences, different cultures within those regions, and obviously great variety between individuals (just like everywhere).
