If you don't use them, why do you have them? A manual on how to break into other peoples' computers?! Why do you have that?

How ever did you imagine people who work in IT security learn how to prevent such break ins/attacks on computers. Gazing at tea-leaves, asking the criminals nicely to explain?

has anyone thought about how a statement showing the guy has aspergers could be the worst thing possible? every piece in the media about aspergers and autism these days shoves information down peoples throats about how autistics are natural born killers who don't feel any emotion or empathy, i think this guy might feel the brunt of ignorence

Two further news items from the last month in the UK in which both articles referred to the perpetrator having aspergers or using it directly as partof the defence.

Nicky Reilly, a Muslim convert, who carried out a failed suicide attack in an Exeter restaurant has been sentenced to life in prison.

Hacker Gary McKinnon loses appeal against extradition to USNorth London computer expert hacked into 97 US military computers.

I am a computer programmer, and I have many "hacking" programs on my computer as well as manual on how to break into other peoples' computers. However, I don't do those things, and I have a legitimate interest in how things work and where security can break down. Now, will I be considered a wrongdoer if the government turns around tomorrow and forbids computers?

I have arcade game roms that I play through emulators on my computer, somehow that means I am going to turn around and try to sell them and commit piracy. Its kinda hard to justify selling something that I got for free.
