Yes, considering all your opponents definitely don't have consensus with one another. You made a bold unsubstantiated opinion, this is a public forum, what did you think was going to happen?

meh I'll just start being selective.

Selective how though, just debating people who have a political opinion on the issue, or people that are actually scientifically literate.

Are the two mutually exclusive? But anyways, this is a thread about politics. So yeah, I'll try to stay on topic. Where you wanting to hijack this thread and take it in another direction?

This is a thread about Celebrities whining about the election, I just happen to be chipping in on an otherwise already severely derailed thread. You brought up Climate Change mate.

I'm also the one who started this thread ;)

The celebrities were saying that Trump being president is a danger to America. One of those perceived dangers brought up in this thread is Trump denying the existence of man made climate change. So that's how climate change became part of the political discussion. Someone starting a purely scientific non-political discussion of climate change, would hijack the thread.

Even if you believe the Anti-Trump efforts of these celebrities are ridiculous, the fact remains that they are Americans, and have the right to express their point of view.
Before anyone jumps on Hollywood for being isolated from the rest of America, it should be remembered that it was many in the German movie industry, and it's artistic community, that had rightfully opposed the Nazis. Sometimes people involved in the arts seemingly have a clearer view of impending doom.

Yes apparently the poor Nazi's can't express their right to free speech without that pesky PC stuff...on the other hand anyone who dares question Trump is labelled a "liberal" (a very popular conservative republican slur)

Continuously branding conservatives as Nazi's is a good propaganda tool. I had heard something about the strategy of repeating something enough times until people believe it. Then I looked up for clarification and found:

"If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth" - Joseph Goebbels

"A lie told often enough becomes the truth." - Vladimir Lenin

"There's nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it." - William James

Of course the internet is considered notorious for attributing quotes to the wrong people. But the ideology is the same, no matter who said it.

No one is saying most conservatives are Nazis. But conservatives risk being grouped with Nazis if said conservatives don't condemn them, or worse, defend them.

I know Bill, we're back to square one and I've already addressed the whole issue. The liberal movement is (and has been with the birth of "political correctness") trying to control society through the threat of branding (as in with a branding iron). And branding with names that didn't even exist until they made them up no less. I've seen nothing to dissuade me from my analysis of the situation and I've even been told that I'm on target either directly or indirectly. Of course the problem they have now, is since they totally lost their cool with all the whining and screaming and rioting, and stalking, and death threats, and assassination tweets, and asinine commercials, after them saying how deplorable it would be to "question the integrity of elections and the will of the people" (Obama) and then do just that to such huge excess. So really there's just this angry frantic mob who will do and say anything, who will grasp at anything they can and resort to anything up to murder based on their threats, all equals diminished credibility.

I'm not saying liberals will pressure conservatives with the threat of associating them with Alt Right Nazis and racists, but rather, that will be the natural inclination of the public to believe that. And if certain conservatives are associating themselves with that waste of working organs, then maybe there is something to that accusation.

Are you suggesting the conservatives "don't" brand groups of people? intolerance is the hallmark of social conservatism, when you leave the teenage bubble you live in this should become apparent to you

Talk about the "gay agenda" is one such example, while calling civil rights activists "the real racists" is another of social conservatism's labeling.

Yes you'd think the America that many conservatives but on a pedestal is the "puritan" settlements in Massachusetts. I like to think modern America (and indeed Australia, Canada or New Zealand) has moved on from divisive politics to focus on what really matters i.e. employment, health and education...innovation in manufacturing etc etc rather than focusing on minority groups

But it's so much easier to get reelected by attacking those minorities than to fix real problems.

This is the same frustration we have with the conservative side of politics in Australia. Reduce taxes for the rich (as if the trickle down theory ever worked), cut government services to the vulnerable and and blame minorities for all our problems.

The conservative side have no vision for the future

He's not even the president yet. And what president or president elect, doesn't have a string of videos of select things they've said and haven't been accused of keeping bad company? And of course they've all been compared to Hitler.

You have to just laugh at the people judging someone who hasn't even taken office yet and they only do it under orders. These people have been silent for 8 years under Obama.
