The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Where does it say which countries' refugees are allowed in and which ones are not?

Any ideas on how to pay for all of those "tired, poor and huddled masses"? I'm all ears.

Wait, I know. You're a chemist, we should probably tax you more.

The principles written on the Statue of Liberty guided our forefathers in forming this country the way it is. What made the USA special is that we became the "Melting Pot" of the world. It is that particular part that made us a world power. However, I see that certain people no longer believe that works that way anymore. Funny, it was these emigrants that made the country richer, not poorer.

Go ahead on taxing chemists more, I will leave this country if it actually happens and I will not be alone in doing so. I have connections that I can use to go somewhere else where science is still held with regard. There are plenty of countries that respect scientists more than this one. Scientists are already being attacked by the current administration here when it comes to funding and environmental issues, so it should be no surprise when we leave in mass.

A brief history lesson:

Eighty years ago, a certain government (Nazi Germany) started attacking members of the scientific community if they did not follow their agenda to the letter. Many of the brightest scientists left, emigrating to different countries, never to return. That country's real scientific progress fell by the wayside while it became consumed with war. The other countries (including the USA) greatly benefited from the influx of good scientific minds, which lead to the creation of nuclear power. In the end, it did not go so well for Germany. Sound familiar?

History repeats itself to those who do not learn from it.

As I thought. YOU JUST PROVED MY POINT. People like you want to bring everyone here on God's green earth, HOWEVER, when we start talking about what it really takes IN MONEY to take care of them, YOU are the first to high - tail and run. TYPICAL LEFTIST!

You know what your little story about the Statue of Liberty reminds me of? All the real immigrants who really want to come here and do it the legal way, BUT THERE IS NO ROOM FOR THEM BECAUSE OF THE DAMN a**holes THAT COME HERE ILLEGALLY!

SO DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT YOUR LITTLE SOB STORY ON THE STATUE OF LIBERTY! I'M ANOTHER ONE THAT DOESN'T WANT ANYONE HERE THAT ISN'T GOING TO BENEFIT THIS COUNTRY. I SURE DON'T WANT ANYONE FROM THE DAMN THIRD WORLD SH!T HOLES THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FORK OVER MORE TAX MONEY FOR AFTER YOUR KIND LEAVES!

Sorry, but you are dead wrong on where I stand. I am not leftest. Least you forget, I grew up in rural Kansas and was Republican at one time. I understand how ingrained the politics are in Kansas, as I personally knew a few of the senators/governors from there. However, I experienced what one bad apple can do to a political party within my "home" state (Brownback). Glad to say I escaped that state of disillusion. Since then, I became an independent, not a blind supporter of either political party in the USA. That puts me as a centralist if you can handle the fact of the matter.

Rant and rave all you want, but it really does not matter. What I wrote of previously is the truth, it is in the history books for all to see. The USA was always the "Melting Pot" of the world, whether or not you like it. Did you not have government/civics class in your high school? It was required when I went to high school in Kansas way back then. Maybe you need to go back and relearn it before commenting further about this issue with me.

Don't talk down to me. I think you need a class on economics. Again, citing history isn't going to pay the bills. As far as I'm concerned, you may see yourself as an independent, but you're way Left leaning. Talking to you is no different than talking to one of "them" - the Country is a free -for-all until money is needed and then none of you have any idea how to clean up the mess.

YOU DIDN'T DENY THAT YOU WOULD LEAVE THE COUNTRY WHEN THE PROBLEM BECAME TOO BIG AND YOU HAD NO NEW IDEAS ABOUT HOW TO PAY FOR ALL THIS CRAP!

And Kansas has nothing to do with it. I'm glad you're gone because you don't belong here.

They'd be doing pieces casting doubts on the Republican sources and emphasising there's no proof and Hillary denies it and painting rosy pictures about her as supporting evidence.

I just want to see some dispassionate reporting on Trump, reporting the news instead of trying to create and shape it. Foreign media is also guilty of this.

Hillary isn't the president is she...why do you right wingers always bring up Hillary when people criticize Trump?

That's life in most of rural America and why I can't live there..........yet. If you can't bring your own money with you when you move out there then you'd better not until you can.

AND another thing, just because one lives in Kansas doesn't mean they are a die hard Republican. I have voted Democrat a couple times. The way the Left is acting now (like 2 try olds having a tantrum) , I consider myself to be always on the right until the day I die!

Where is the economic growth, seems like Trumps economic solution thus far is more tax breaks for the wealthy, how does that create economic growth?

This is why I don't engage you in conversation. Watch the REAL news for once. It may do you some good.

It's not about Hillary, it's about the media. I'm saying if she was president and was accused of this, the media response would be the complete opposite. That's wrong. The coverage should be the same no matter who it is. The media should be impartial. Give us the facts and let us make our own opinions.

Name calling again, huh? You're damn right, I am Queen of Kansas. Don't forget about Nazi, Racist and whatever else your side can conjure up because you know I'm right.

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me. That's what the Left has taught me. Thank you.

You mean you're not gonna go into a hysterical frenzy about an alleged naughty word used?

With Trump's tax policy companies like Walmart have already upped the minimum wage to $11 an hour. Not sure how SJW's can screech about that. Maybe 11 is a racist number or something, who knows.

And the cool part is that we can crush them with "name calling" that isnt even really name calling.
It don't take much to crush a snowflake.

Walmart is also closing a bunch of Sam's Clubs. Many jobs will be lost as a result.

Because he's a republican president is why. Obama's policies could have lowered wages and you wouldn't have heard a peep about if from of the left.

Let me guess:
Wealthy = People that earn a living
