There is a novel bublished in 1933 by the Swedish novelist Gustav Sandgren, using the pen name Gabriel Linde, published a science fiction novel called Den okända faran ("The Unknown Danger"), in which he describes a race of extraterrestrials: "...the creatures did not resemble any race of humans. They were short, shorter than the average Japanese, and their heads were big and bald, with strong, square foreheads, and very small noses and mouths, and weak chins. What was most extraordinary about them were the eyes—large, dark, gleaming, with a sharp gaze. They wore clothes made of soft grey fabric, and their limbs seemed to be similar to those of humans."

This is the first accurate description of the greys (despite this being a work of fiction).

Ah ha so that's who started the phenomenon.

In my view Sandgren must have seen them and incorporated them as part of his book.

Barney and betty Hill could not have possibly read the book as it was published in Swedish.

Now this whole thing is being commercialized:

The fast-food chain Arby's tweeted out a message stating they will be present at the “Storm Area 51” raid. Nearly 2 million people have responded to the viral Facebook event, which may or may not result in a large group of alien seekers storming Area 51 in search of alien life. “We’re going there. No really, we’re going there. Area 51. And we’re bringing a special menu.” They will be offering a “top-secret menu.”

Bud Light also jumped in on the viral raid. If there are any aliens in Area 51, and any of them actually manage to escape during the raid, their reward will be a nice, cold Bud Light. They announced the Area 51 Special Edition beer.

What it means is that the greys have been abducting folks for a long time...

Look what I found. This is a film adaptation of the book The Interrupted Journey which is about the first recorded abduction case involving the couple Betty and Barney Hill.

I watched this a few years ago, it is very interesting. I remember someone saying it would be funny to dub some of James Earl Jones' lines into Darth Vader clips like "where's my gun? I gotta get my gun!".
