I brought trump’s name into this because he’s spent the last 4-5 years going on international TV ranting and raving about Mexicans, calling them thieves and rapists, drug dealers and murderers. Surely that’s had an affect on some people.

Good point someone brought up about public intoxication and racism. It’s said that trump is rarely sober (uppers; UK Sudafed & cocaine) so chances are that he’s intoxicated in public while spouting off his hatred for non white immigrants. Would definitely explain a lot.

And also, to those complaining about frequent trump posts: If trump didn’t do something awful at least once daily, there wouldn’t be regular news to post and discuss about him. But he does and there’s always something new to be disgusted by.

And yet Trump self righteously boasts how he doesn't drink.

This woman has now been charged with a second count of attempted murder for running over a young black boy earlier in the day.

Sometimes I ponder if more is in play than just a few members on the board who really go out of their way to "flame the board".

It calls to mind the Russian Disinformation War.

Russia’s attempt to exert influence over the 2016 election was far from an isolated incident tied to one campaign, but one part of a “broader, sophisticated, and ongoing information warfare campaign” designed to divide America by inflaming cultural, political, and social tensions. The influence operations began long before 2016 and remain active today, the report says.

The report says that although the IRA’s [Russian Internet Research Agency] purchase of online ads on platforms like Facebook received considerable attention from the press and the public, the ads really weren’t all that important. The number of ads Russian operatives bought and used to target American users paled in comparison to the tweets, YouTube videos, Reddit comments, and Facebook and Instagram posts created and shared by IRA operatives posing as normal users. The group made over 61,500 Facebook posts, 116,000 Instagram posts, and 10.4 million tweets, all aimed at sowing discord and inflaming tensions among Americans, says the report.

They're making sure they hit every single demographic.

How will they reach the folks with ASD who don't use the internet for social interaction? 8O

Do I believe this woman ran over this kid because she was a Mexican? Yes... I also thought I heard something about a second charge for hitting a 12 year old boy who was also a Mexican.

That the OP thinks all Trump supporters, or even half, or one quarter think this is okay, is ridiculous. My whole block, in a very normal, middle class neighborhood are Trump supporters. Probably two thirds of my little town are Trump supporters, there's no mowing down of minorities.

This is horrible. But, it takes a special kind of whack job to go plowing into people, crowds (like the nut in the Carolinas). No other Trump supporters thought that guy was a genius either and we didn't emulate his behavior. And white women aren't going to start mowing down Mexican kids in droves either.

The OP is a Canuck, many hate the US anyway. They especially hate any conservative candidates, although their PM Trudeau's 'blackface' is nothing to be proud of either. I haven't seen a rash of blackface since those pictures were unearthed.

Persephone29, I agree--there is a mischaracterization that has become a way of life for most of America. Considering the sort of liberalism Wrong Planet exhibits (and many other websites), it changed my mind on voting possibly for a third-party candidate in 2020 and I believe the Republicans have my vote.
This is poorly-worded, I know. I feel like my verbal functions are declining when I try to argue or discuss anything on this website--because it's like trying to hold a conversation with people who are very hostile. There is no way to get around the fighting. Talking to my father is like that...he and I can get along fine in small talk; I feel like he will never know me for who I am (though of course, improvement is possible, and he is a wonderful though confusing human being whom I love very much.) But the minute we have a serious conversation I lose some of my skills, and on occasion have to run out of the room.

The liberalism I've seen face to face, and the attitudes here on Wrong Planet, have convinced me it's just as well to vote Republican. Call them--nay, call us what you will, it's preferable to the closed-mindedness and discrimination of the loudmouthed American Left.

Low hanging fruit.

Nope, you guys are thinking in the wrong direction.

In WWII, the Allies used color-blind soldiers to see through German camouflage so to select targets for bombing.

Isreali army today actively recruits autistic teens: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2016/01/israeli-army-autism/422850/.

For eight hours a day, E., 21, sits in front of multiple computer screens, scanning high-resolution satellite images for suspicious objects or movements. As a decoder of Israel’s complex and often heavily civilian battlegrounds, he’s been critical in preventing the loss of life of soldiers on the ground in several different situations, his officers say.

What type of people would you employ to concentrate for long periods of time on reading, experimenting, and writing?

I mean I am confused what the double standard is...A racist woman runs over a person of a race she doesn't like, she is a racist plain and simple. Like what is the debate...

I would not solely blame it on trump, but I can agree that its possible some of his rhetoric hasn't done anything to discourage that kind of thing...but even so its not really about Trump. Like Trump did not create the race issues, but it is possible in some ways he has exacerbated it.

I mean aside from what the O.P thinks of Trump I would all hope we could agree in full that woman was wrong and certainly a racist..regardless on anyone's opinions or thoughts on Trump.
