It seems at least some communities aren't too welcoming to the Flu Trux Klan:

"... I think Miss Paul you'll perhaps understand that I won't take lessons on caucus management from you .... "

Trudeau to Paul in my last video ^^

Note she holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Public Affairs degree from Princeton University.

His condescension makes my skin crawl.

There really are no heroes anymore. Many of us here in the US thought Trudeau had it all together.

I'm no fan of Trudeau or the Liberals, but the people behind this protest aren't people I'd ever want to be associated with. You raise valid criticisms of Trudeau but these people aren't concerned with the criticisms you've raise except for using them as gotchas.

Do you think the guys with Confederate flags care if my loved ones who live on a reservation have access to clean drinking water? Hell no, they're the guys who slander us as Siberian freeloaders.

Even famed reactionary Lauren Southern realizes her fellow reactionaries don't view women as equals, so it's not as though the reactionaries behind the FTK care about the substance of the criticisms you raise towards Trudeau regarding Paul. Trudeau might be no better than them but they're not an alternative to him. If you want an alternative you've got to look at the Greens or the NDP because the right will never offer one if racism and sexism are concerns.

I may not have agreed with Annamie Paul's policy's in the last election, but she was by far the most respectable person I saw in that debate when it happened. Trudeau already said everything I needed to know about him before the campaign and I was never going to have my mind changed about him. All the female cabinet ministers he forced out for disagreeing with him and his finance minister as well for disagreeing on finance policy should have been enough to alarm everyone.

The ratio of confederate flags vs Canadian flags has to magnitudes in difference? Your post paints the entire protest based on one flag and the unproven article but I agree with you, I wouldn’t want to be associated ‘em either. BTW, the plates on the confederate flag pickup was Colorado. The flag that is a symbol of Lynyrd Skynyrd to me and I love their music.

Same. I was very impressed by Paul's command of the room and her platform. I considered voting for her and almost did, other than I had to vote strategically, hoping to avoid a minority government. I've always liked Jagmeet Singh but I don't think he has enough experience. I even thought O'Toole spoke better than Trudeau - who was put to shame by all of them, really, especially regarding Indigenous affairs.

I know I'm running a bit ahead of the game here, but it seems there are a lot of non-Canadian WP members who have no clue what Trudeau is really like. He's branded himself as a down-to-earth, cool Liberal who lets us buy pot at the corner store. People who are left-wing in America assume that all "left-wing" or progressively-minded people in Canada must wanna suck Trudeau's d_ _ _ just because he's young, somewhat handsome, and leader of the Liberal party. I don't think people have any clue how racist and misogynous he is, the extent of our environmental and humanitarian crises, or the collapse of our economy. Don't even start me on his father's legacy.

I agree it's not completely related to the trucker issue but it's rare that anyone pays attention to Canadian politics so I'm taking this opportunity to let people know what it's really like. I guess we might consider a separate thread for it, but at the same time there ARE quite a few Canadians who are protesting against Trudeau in general, without regard to the trucker situation. Their voices should be heard too.

The people with the Confederate flags might not. You're right. But there are a lot of people there without that attitude, who aren't rednecks or racists or radicals. They're just regular people fed up with the BS. It takes passion for any Canadian to get involved when it's -20C, and they're essentially gridlocked into the city with no way out.

I agree. I don't vote Conservative, and I didn't vote for Trudeau. OK actually I did the first time, but sure as heck not the next two.

One thing I noticed in the debate:
They all used every minority rights label they could name: sex, gender, orientation, race, class, unemployment, immigration status, etc. I waited the entire night to hear the word "Disability" but it never came up from any of the five parties. I was really disappointed by that and I wonder if any of you (aspiemike, funeralx, Goldfish) noticed the same.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/federal ... -1.5577558

Another glaring oversight is they always spoke of policies to help "families" rather than single people, and even the "families" they discussed were presumed to be two adults with children under 18. I suppose as a disabled single parent with disabled, dependent children over 18 I don't count at all. But then again I learned that when we were denied Covid stimulus money.
