I don't think the kid knows how much damage he caused. He has forever tarnished the reputation of non-east Asian POC minorities (Brits lump this entire group into the same bucket) and in particular immigrant, black and Rwandan communities. I've lived in Southport for about 5 years, in 1998 and 2010 and the difference was obvious. In 1998 the house I lived in was in was all white British. In 2010 it was 50% immigrants. Someone tried to set fire to the house which I think was racially motivated. In 1998 the landlord was mainly taking on British people from social services. In 2010 he was taking immigrants from the immigration service. What has happened in Southport doesn't surprise me at all. When you try to point out the problems caused by mass immigration you just get called a racist which drives people to the EDL and Farage.

I'm not a MAGA Trump fan, hope Kamala wins, and voted Labour at the last UK election but I think the government needs to get a grip on legal and illegal migration otherwise it will continue to screw people on low incomes such as myself. I'm lucky enough to have a council flat but a lot of people in similar positions to myself are struggling to get anywhere to live due to high rents.

Isn't it too late? I posed the question why do governments allow mass immigration?

the supply of cheap labour facilitates economies so big business wants unrestricted immigration. And what big business wants, big business gets. So not good news for domestic low income workers.

Second the foreign student market is a major economic injection for higher education in the UK, but the trade-off is all those graduates are seeking a VISA and professional jobs in the UK (not their home countries). So more competition for domestic jobs.

Even trump is a major hypocrite. He speaks about raising the wall but his resorts rely on foreign workers from south of the border. I'm Sure others who are openly anti-mass immigration like Elon Musk have used cheap migrant labour (we know his father did in South Africa).
