I suspect that most restaurants will survive because they will quickly adapt to having their take out delivered directly to your homes. We will probably follow Wuhan, China's lead. There will be thousands of new job openings for meal delivery people in the next few weeks in the U.S.

I’m type A.The last time I had the flu was around 15 years ago and it was type A Australian.I was really sick for weeks and lost ten pounds.
My family members were all type O and did not catch it.

Yesterday went shopping for what I hope will be the last time for at least a few weeks/2 months+ ( to "stay home" etc ), and at the big city centre supermarket there were no eggs, no toilet paper, no kitchen towels, no tinned tuna and just a few tins of sardines, nearly no corned beef, no pasta and nearly no rice, and large sections of cereals looked bare, very little fresh meat, almost no tinned tomatoes or tinned vegetables or "sauces", and the jam, peanut butter, chocolate spread and honey shelves were ravaged. The number of totally empty shelves was astonishing.

Bought eggs from corner shop on way home, 3 boxes of 6 out of the 12 boxes they had.

I am glad that had already built up a good store of tinned and dry foods over the last year bit by bit ahead of possible trade/import issues after Brexit, because I haven't needed to buy huge amounts in the last week or two ... but I understand people who are doing so, if they hadn't before, because it looks more and more as if a lot of us are going to be stuck indoors/at home, ( apart from carefully isolated walks for exercise ), perhaps dependent on deliveries, for months ...

I can see why the Tory UK govt would have preferred to let the virus run its natural course ... lots of dead but over quickly. Trying to actually do anything about it will be soooo expensive. They are obviously trying to protect their friends in finance; advising people to avoid bars and cafes rather than forcing places to shut, for example, means no insurance payouts for interruption of business. They're hoping that the "masses" will shoulder the load/burden for them, as usual.

And UK hospitals are being provided with face masks and gloves, when they get any at all, that are long past their use by date, with fresh stickers ( for 2021 ) stuck over old ones ( with 2016 date ) so that officially approved. Having dug out old kitchen gloves yesterday thinking might wear for shopping and discovered that congealed and pitted with holes I now understand why age of equipment is serious issue. Instead I wore white lacy steampunk ones, to remind me not to touch my face, and washed my hands thoroughly on return home.

I saw 7 people wearing masks, 5 of them Asian people, naturally. I envied them their apparently comfortable light masks. One person had a really chic black and white striped stretchy fabric version. I had tried making myself a mask with kitchen towel paper as demonstrated in the video that's been posted on here a few times, but the elastic bands behind the ears hurt too much, however long the elastic, and the mask made my nose sweat horribly, immediately, and I knew I'd end up fiddling with it constantly, so didn't use it.

One of the strangest things is realising that the way I usually live, and have done for years/decades, is seen as extreme/emergency levels of social distancing/self-isolation/semi-quarantine.

Made me wonder if people on the Autism Spectrum are in a way a sort of "appendix" for the human "race", like the one in the intestines, the separate little cul de sac which acts as a reservoir for essential and beneficial gut bacteria, so that after gastrointestinal disease events, diarrhoea etc, which damage/destroy the rest of the bacterial population, it can replenish them. Our behaviour is so often retired/withdrawn/reclusive/solitary, which may have been very protective/a survival advantage in times of plague or massacres by invading forces, our distance from others, our hidden away lives meant being overlooked, uninfected.

Definitely saw NT need to socialise more when stressed/anxious yesterday; lots of people stopping to talk more often and more volubly with each other. They do seem to need to cluster and gather and get together when in crisis. An advantage in certain situations but not in that of infectious disease.
