How hard for advanced countries to urgently mass-produce proper masks enough for their populace?

US, Europe and basically all non-Asian countries will pay the price very high for their "only healthcare workers need masks" policy. As if other people are immune to airborne transmission.

Guy at work today wore gloves and after he left other made fun of him for it and being worried about his dad getting it. So even if they made enough most people wouldn’t wear them out of fear of being mocked. I won’t wear mask or gloves because I’d be mocked at work for however long I worked there. Most everyone including all the managers think this is made up by democrats to win the election.

If the Western govs oblige it like how Asian govs are enforcing it then no one gonna mock about it.
I get the feeling that western govs secretly prefer to acquire herd immunity, via natural selection.

Unlikely as our gov is telling people to not wear masks and some states have gone as far as to forbid us from buying them unless you work in medical field.

They say one second that mask don’t work, then next second doctors need them cause they help stop them from being infected. So they magically only work for doctors.
Some states are calling for construction companies to surrender their masks to hospitals.

I wear gloves when I go shopping and a couple of people had a problem with it.
One guy, behind me at checkout, faked coughed.
What a tool. <chuckle>

Yeah, NTs are so desperate to protect their social image.

Animal tribal instincts at work.
Silly buggers.

What good are gloves? The virus sticks to them and anything touched with infected gloves becomes infected, the same as bare hands.

When I was at the store last I had a problem with coughing because of my seasonal allergies. Then again it's not like I want anyone near me.

What would be fun is standing out in front of a grocery store with a sign that says "FREE HUGS" and watch how people react.

The flaw in the prank is the chance that some idiot will actually try to hug you.

I think they’re trying to prioritise limited protective resources to the healthcare workers they need to stay uninflected to care for the sick.

The lack of full honesty about this is annoying, and will probably prove to be counterproductive, though.

I wonder without having looked into it, if those masks are for the medical staff to wear or the covid patients.

When I was at Kaiser a year ago to get lung congestion checked out, I was the only one wearing a mask, which they insisted on.

Well that depends on how the bats are prepared.

If bat meals were being prepared by the fast food industry, the death toll would be much higher.

But they're so cute!

So cute you could eat em up.

No surprise there. Even the Andromeda Strain mutated into being nonlethal.

SPOILER ALERT!! !

Damn you, I didn't know that.
You spoiled the ending for me. lol

So that was the ending.
Bloody lazy scriptwriter, imo.
As lame as the ending to: "War of the Worlds".

Really easy way to make a great mask using a paper towel, staples and rubber bands. No need to speak French, it's visually clear.

None of this had to happen. But Trump disbanded the pandemic task force, and blamed Obama now that we have a crisis on our hands. The fact that many of his supporters reject science and were more afraid of “having their guns taken away” or “being raped by Mexicans”, adds more fuel to the fire. Now that churches and gun stores are closing, let’s see how quickly their opinion of him changes. Some of them are already blaming George Soros!

And this doesn’t include the grave mistakes on China’s end.

Firstly, bugs don't like porous surfaces.
They like hard surfaces such as metal and plastics.

Secondly, I only wear them for a short time.
Hardly enough time for the bugs to navigate towards my skin.

Thirdly, gloves remind me not to touch my face.

Fourthly, when I come home, I spray them with Glen 20.

Fifthly, I laugh at your lack of faith in me. HA!
You should know I am the smartest person in this universe.
Everything I say is solid rhodium. 8)

How to keep safe: stay the **** away from anyone under 35. Or quarantine everyone under 35.

You do realise there are sociopathic kids, the type that start bushfires, who would actually want to infect older people, right?
I remember a recent video of a French guy (I think he was French), on a train or bus who took off his mask, wet his fingers, and spread the saliva on the steadying pole. 8O

Don't give the little buggers any ideas.
