They were extremists, yes.
Anyone who does something like that is.

People, all around the world, are shocked.
Except the China*s*.
They are just laughing.

yes, that last point is the most shameful  thing about all this, our mouth breathers are playing right into the hands of our enemies without a clue.

I have been pointing that out for months. 8)

Well I knew something like this was gonna happen. Trump wins, riots and protests and violence and maybe things getting destroyed. Biden wins, same results. We were doomed either way. Remember my "election stress" thread.

Just to clarify to some people, the White House is not under attack, Capitol Hill is. The former is the Executive Branch, the latter is the Legislative

The dead woman Ashli Babbit has been savagely/mercilessly attacked by online trolls as a MAGA terrorist after her husband has paid tribute to her as a patriot  I mean really??
She climbed through a window she vandalised in the white house, she must have known she was going to be shot....

She is quoted have posted this before getting her brains blown out
Ms Babbitt’s social media accounts were filled with her political views, and she vowed to fight for Donald Trump’s presidency in her final Twitter post.
“Nothing will stop us … they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours … dark to light!” she posted on January 6.

As sample of responses to her post;
“Play stupid games win stupid prizes,” one troll wrote, while another posted: “How’d it work out for you? Was it worth it?”
“When she said dark to light she didn’t realise she was going literally to the light. Wow. Life comes at u pretty fast,” another said, while another wrote: “What a dumb way to die.”
Many others refrained from insulting the dead woman but still insisted they had “zero sympathy” for those injured while engaging in an “insurrection”.

The Capitol isn't the White House. :nerdy:

Awful night for America. Nothing surprising about it sadly, something like this has been coming for 4 years, there were enough warnings about this kind of thing happening when you empower him and the fringe of hardcore support he has.

I just hope America learns from it all, I absolutely expect them not to though.

But it's our duty as Americans to not only bear with it, but to fight to correct the error and make it better.

Pence took lead as Trump initially resisted sending National Guard to Capitol

Quote:
Vice President Mike Pence, not President Donald Trump, helped facilitate the decision to mobilize members of the DC National Guard Wednesday when violence at the US Capitol building started to escalate, according to a source familiar with the move and public comments from top officials.

Trump, who has proven over the past year to be eager to deploy the National Guard when violence breaks out, initially resisted doing so on Capitol Hill Wednesday as a mob of his supporters breached the building, per a source familiar. Pence played a key role in coordinating with the Pentagon about deploying them, and urged them to move faster than they were.
The news raises questions about who was acting as commander in chief on one of America's darkest days, which saw the country's legislature overrun for the first time since the British attacked and burned the building in August 1814.
The Trump administration, earlier this week, said that civilian law enforcement would be tasked with protection of federal facilities but the Department of Defense received requests for additional support from the National Guard Wednesday as the situation became increasingly dangerous, a senior defense official told CNN.

As the chaos unfolded, doubts were raised about whether Trump would order the DC National Guard to respond due to the slowness of the response. Public statements by acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller and other top officials suggested it was Pence who ultimately approved the decision. Miller's statement Wednesday seems to indicate he did not even speak with Trump, discussing the matter with his deputy instead as sources told CNN the President was reluctant to even denounce the violence being carried out in his name.
Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy sidestepped questions Wednesday night about whether Pence, not Trump, directed the DC National Guard to be activated but suggested the vice president ultimately approved the decision.

Asked by Fox News about reporting that Pence, not the President, approved the activation, McCarthy demurred, but ultimately said: "I know the vice president has been in constant contact with us and also along with security inside the Capitol, I communicated with the vice president early on. It was in regards to getting the National Guard there. He said he will call right now."

Miller also confirmed that he and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, spoke with Pence, not Trump, on Wednesday afternoon. He also said he was in contact with top congressional lawmakers.

The National guard was not fully activated until hours after the violent mob descended on the capitol.

DC mayor declares public emergency for 15 days following Capitol riots
Quote:
Officials in D.C. and Virginia have put out curfews for residents after pro-Trump protests at the Capitol turned to riots with demonstrators storming the building and shots being fired on the House floor.

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has declared a 6 p.m. curfew for Alexandria and Arlington that will last until 6 a.m. Thursday. He has also issued a State of Emergency in Virginia.

Late Wednesday, Bowser extended the public emergency order declared earlier today for a total of 15 days through Inauguration Day, giving her the ability to call curfew at any time.

Congressman accuses US Capitol Police of being 'complicit' in rioters entering Capitol Building
Quote:
Congressman Jim Cooper (D) from Tennessee spoke with WUSA9's Adam Longo on Wednesday about some strong concerns and possible allegations to levee against US Capitol Police.

His fear? US Capitol Police were somehow complicit in allowing the Capitol to be breached.

"Some people are worried today that some police were complicit with the protesters," Cooper said. "It's one thing to be friendly and to de-escalate the violence. But it's one thing to take selfies with them (rioters) and let them go through the lines."

Cooper said he did not see these actions by Capitol Police himself, but said he's "never seen a crowd less afraid of the police than this one."

"At best they were overwhelmed and did not anticipate what they had been warned of by (President) Trump, even as of this morning when he said he would join the protests at the Capitol. ... At worst, they let this protest proceed unlike any other," Cooper said when asked directly if he believes that US Capitol Police were complicit in what happened.

Congressman Cooper compared what we saw Wednesday to 1814 when British troops torched the Capitol and forced Congress out of the building.
