I have a telescope in my room and watched the commuter train go by. Usually it is pretty packed. Today it looked like about 8 people were aboard.

It's the weather. Vietnam, or even India, so far has had very few cases, relatively speaking. Post March 1st, the doubling period in Australia has been 4 days. Not that different from other parts of the world. There is nothing special about Australia.

But we all know March 19st, 2020, is the equinox. That means the good luck of Australia is now officially over. The same is true for South America.

They need to learn to wear a mask.

What is so 'magical' about the March Equinox that its occurrence brings an end to a continent's 'luck'?

FYI: The advent of the 2020 March Equinox occurs on March 20 at 03:50 UT.

On my latest visit to the convenience store I saw that this time they were out of TP. But they were fully stocked on 2lb bags of flour. And looked fully stocked in general. Oh I also noticed that the doughnuts in the self serve case now have individual cellophane wrappers, which is a first.

Are you serious, or just playing dumb? When does fall/autumn start in the Southern Hemisphere? Have you failed your elementary school or what?

Cool! (Except for the TP part, of course.) I gotta pick up some flour, some bakers' yeast, and some rice on my way home from work tonight. Gonna break out the old bread machine and see if it still works.

I expect the TP will probably be back in stock. It actually went pretty slowly.

Also as an added being careful measure I will not buy any food item that is not prepackaged. I usually get pizza slices, chicken wings and other stuff from the hot case, but no longer for a while.

On top of that I spritz each item with 70% isopropyl alcohol when I get them home and then thoroughly wash my hands using antibacterial soap.

I do not really think all of that is necessary, but I go through the motions anyways.

Okay ... so I consulted my favorite astronomical references, and found the following information:

• March Equinox in Pacific Daylight Time is on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 20:49 PDT (UTC -7).

• March Equinox in Universal Coordinated Time is on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 03:49 UTC.

We were both correct, although Eik was more correct because my previous source (Wikipedia) is off by one minute.

I am hoping for an answer that successfully explains the relationship between the concepts of 'luck' and 'magic' with a naturally-occurring astronomical event, that's all.

Since when is asking questions for clarification 'dumb' or 'rude'?

I figured him being an A list actor made him more vulnerable as I imagine he does a lot of traveling and is at various social events etc.

He was correct if there is such a thing as "March 19st".

The wound care nurse came by and said he likely caught it from us as younger n I have been going to the pond and creek trails regularly (his bro demanded it his alternative requesy was going thru the car wash repeatedly --and i would be paying each time) and caught cold from that....

EzraS it's a great idea to sanitize the surface of store bought items.

The word rude has me shudder because of that actually rude law clerk saying I was when I wasn't . and the lawyer saying i was rude when i got mad at him for charging me for his lie

Such a vague word that can be applied to shut down people just like 'metoo' movement or alleged racism

(not here of course just rambling)

Thankfully WP users are not really rude compared to other forums and are quick to work things out.
