Homosexual men only live into their thirties? I'll be sure to tell my best man at my wedding (who is in fact a gay man) that he ought to be dead by now. I have to say, I think that what ever source you site sounds questionable. And what about gay women? Do they have a limited life span, as well?
As far as African men using anal sex to prevent pregnancy - it is common knowledge that AIDS can and is also spread through vaginal intercourse.
As far as being a country governed by Christian theology - you may very well believe so, and I'll respect that. But the fact remains, all through American history, there have been citizens who have believe otherwise. When the Muslim Barbary pirates had captured American sailors, President Adams, in order to smooth over any religious excitement, assured the North African leadership that the American government was not based on Christian theology. And the founding fathers in fact had respected Luther's theology of the two kingdoms under God's rule - one divine, and the other secular, which inspired separation of church and state. This was quite a while before those court rulings.
As for Sharia law being peachy keen for Muslim countries - the fact is, not everyone in America are Christians, and may not want to adhere to Christian theology unlike Muslim countries. We are proudly a pluralistic society. And then there's the matter of which church is going to have their way in legislating morality? I seriously doubt that we mainline denominations would be left with a whole lot of say when in the face of an aggressive evangelical onslaught..
And legalized racism is hardly a vague indictment, as one only has to recall Jim Crow laws, and segregation, and voter suppression based on race.
And while conservative Democrats like Clinton had hurt the working people of this country with NAFTA, he was hardly without Republican support (much more than he had from Democrats). And indeed, Republicans had broken unions with right to work idiocy, and supporting the right of business to outsource in order to pay foreign workers much lower wages and no benefits, specifically to break unions at home. When have conservatives ever taken the part of workers wanting to organize for the sake of a decent wage and benefits?

Bill, I would give anything if you could only see how the postmodern obsession with the exception has warped your thinking. I too know a homosexual in his late sixties; so what though? My grandfather smoked cigarettes every day for ninety years; George Burns smoked a box of cigars ever day and lived to be a hundred. Does that mean smoking isn't bad for you too?
What you are describing is part of modern liberalism's war on science in the service of their warped ideology. Don't believe me? Read up on what feminism thinks of science. Then read about Alan Sokal.

Of course AIDS can be spread via vaginal intercourse, but it very rarely is. This is why AIDS is so incredibly rare amongst white heterosexuals who don't engage in homosexual activities or intravenous drug use.

But the fact remains, all through American history, there have been citizens who have believe otherwise. When the Muslim Barbary pirates had captured American sailors, President Adams, in order to smooth over any religious excitement, assured the North African leadership that the American government was not based on Christian theology. Again, your postmodern obsession with the exception warps your thinking. There have also been people throughout US history who believe the earth is flat.
As far as John Adams goes, he was an early example of a liberal tyrant. If you will recall, he passed the Alien and Sedition laws which is almost as un-American as modern liberalism.
As for Sharia law being peachy keen for Muslim countries - the fact is, not everyone in America are Christians, and may not want to adhere to Christian theology unlike Muslim countries. We are proudly a pluralistic society. And then there's the matter of which church is going to have their way in legislating morality? No, only about two-thirds of the American public claims to be Christian. And they seem to count for nothing in your postmodern utopia that is obsessed with the nuttiest exceptions.
As far as being a pluralistic society, I will take that seriously when you begin publicly objecting to having Political Correctness forced on society.
As far as which church's theology will prevail in lawmaking, this is why the founding fathers totally left social issues up to the states--at least until predatory liberalism started forcing secularism and abortion down our throats.
And legalized racism is hardly a vague indictment, as one only has to recall Jim Crow laws, and segregation, and voter suppression based on race.
As far as Jim Crow laws go, you would need to talk about specifics. What is irrefutable is that the percentages of blacks in the criminal justice system was far lower back then, and even blacks benefited from being much safer in their own neighborhoods.
I would agree that forced segregation was in violation of the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of association. But it's a little hypocritical for liberals to bring this up, as their policies of forced integration are wrong for the same reasons.
It was St. Bernard who said that only the poor have the right to commend poverty to others. By the same token, only those liberals who lived in ghettos and send their children to schools where English is no longer spoken are morally justified in expecting other whites to do so.
As far as "voter suppression" is concerned, that varied from state to state, as the South did not believe in the liberal doctrine of collectivism. Where qualified blacks were excluded from voting, that was certainly an injustice. But are we really better off with a more ignorant electorate? Are we really electing better leaders today than we did back in the "bad old days"?
And while conservative Democrats like Clinton had hurt the working people of this country with NAFTA, he was hardly without Republican support (much more than he had from Democrats). And indeed, Republicans had broken unions with right to work idiocy, and supporting the right of business to outsource in order to pay foreign workers much lower wages and no benefits, specifically to break unions at home. When have conservatives ever taken the part of workers wanting to organize for the sake of a decent wage and benefits?
I agree with you on the Republicans. Then, I have long asserted they are just as liberal, and therefore just as hostile, to average Americans as the Democrats are.
As far as right-to-work laws, I am all in favor of them, and am thrilled I don't have to deal with labor unions. But this doesn't mean there isn't a problem. That problem is too many jobs being offshored by free trade, and way too many immigrants competing with Americans for the jobs that are left. The fact is that no matter how hard the left tries, they are not going to repeal the law of supply and demand.

I hardly think John Adams qualified as a liberal tyrant - political liberalism in modern America hardly existed back in those days. How did it equate to liberalism? Just stating it as a fact does not make it one.
As for homosexual men - they are citizens who should be able to lead what ever live they like, regardless of any disapproval of anyone else. I certainly didn't like the Aryan Nations across the state line in Idaho, but there was certainly nothing I was going to do about it but state my disapproval. Not that I didn't feel a degree of joy when those idiots self-destructed, and moved away to Pennsylvania.
As far as AIDS being incredibly rare among heterosexual whites - no it isn't. That is a very dangerous attitude to have, considering that viruses know no racial or sexual boundaries. Just because our particular group is not as blighted as others doesn't mean we aren't potential victims.
And only 2/3rds of the American people identify themselves as Christians? I have to ask by whose definition of what is a Christian are you going by? Actually, the number is closer to over 90%.
As for being a pluralistic society - yes, we are. Just about every religion is practiced here by every nationality and ethnic group on the planet. Respecting people's rights to be who they are is not a matter of political correctness, but of civility, and live-and-let live acceptance. It has nothing to do with a liberal utopia, which I don't know of a single liberal actually wanting. Utopias - either on the right or the left - notoriously prove to be highly flawed and even destructive.
As far as the expansion of voting rights to blacks having brought in unqualified voters - what makes white voters anymore qualified? Ignorance and stupidity is not limited by color. Neither is smarts and comprehension of the issues.
And Jim Crow somehow being beneficial for blacks? I think the best answer to that is, would you yourself be willing to live under those conditions as a second class citizen? I know I certainly wouldn't.
Regarding right to work - I was raised in a union household where my Dad's union won wages and benefits had allowed my Mom to stay at home, and for the three of us to live a comfortable middle class lifestyle. I can tell you that the loss of all that for Americans across the country has been devastating for the economy. Labor unions have been the working man's best friend, and right to work laws have done absolutely nothing to help anyone, save for the short sighted and greedy captains of industry and Wall Street.
And in closing - St. Bernard is entitled to his opinion, but in fact anyone can feel outraged when poverty or injustice is inflicted on another. Not only is that the heart of the American character, but also the spirit of Christianity.
