That's just what I just called it. Never heard or read it as a Liberal phrase.
Oh okay, funny how you want more of what you call the next thing to slavery.

If you and your family's lives were being threatened, does that make you a threat to others' lives?

How does the wheat get sifted from the chaff?

Seeking a fortune? I said better fortunes aka good fortune aka prosperity - which for many would simply be living paycheque to paycheque at a low paying meager job simply for the comforts of stable surroundings free from violence or political unrest.
And no such place exists in all of Central or South America?
I didn't say I want it. I acknowledge that American businesses benefit from it.
Same way it does here in Canada, first by checking ID & backgrounds if possible, second by interviews with immigration and psychologists who screen people as best they can when they come from war torn countries with no records of who they are. It's not a perfect system, but it's not a total crapshoot, either. If their behaviour indicates something is amiss, they're interviewed further to determine if they are an illegitimate refugee. Same kind of thing when someone is caught being nervous and possibly smuggling something - trained LEO's do the digging until they figure out what's going on.
Does that mean mistakes Never happen and bad people Never get through? No. Nothing is completely foolproof. But a whole lot of good meaning people and their families get a chance to start over in a place where they can survive at first, and then with hard work, thrive. Here in Canada, refugee immigrants pay more taxes than wealthy investor immigrants (who cheat taxes, basically.) & that's a fact. Probably the same South of the border.
No idea; I've never been to Central or South America. You'd have to ask each migrant why they chose to approach the USA. Maybe they have family here already. Maybe America symbolizes stability, opportunity, peace and freedom to go about their lives to them & is the place they feel safe? Or any other number of reasons. Ask them.
