That not elf and safety, its a misconception to blame the HSE for that madness. The truth is its local government environmental health detps sh*****g themselves over law suits!

That includes mine then. Thanks for the clearup of that one, anyway!

np I know ppl who work for the HSE and they get pissed off with some the crap local government do, as its one of the roles of the HSE to advice environmental health detps and a good deal of them don't listen to the HSE, a lot like Westminster at the mo & I can't talk about the details of that

And now for some good old-fashioned British humour.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... riots.html

Quote:
Alexis Bailey, 31, a worker at a primary school, admitted being part of a mob that tried to loot an electrical shop in Croydon. Bailey, who earns £1,000 a month at Stockwell Primary School, south London, left court with a newspaper over his face. A headline about “copycat cretins” covering his eyes, he walked into a lamp-post.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Twat.

A worker at a primary school- not anymore he isn't.

Things will change because of this.

Some people are going to get massively disproportionate sentences. stealing a mobile phone or getting drunk and smashing a shop window on a random day last month was probably incurring community service. Doing the exact same thing in the context of large disorder, in this political climate, with the media baying for blood and politician scum eager to underline their point will very likely to a long prison stretch.

The bottom line is that the government has to make an example of the people involved in these riots. They crossed the line and mob violence cannot be tolerated.

A student has just been given 6 months prison for taking some water ffs. £3.50 - is that just?

no-one should ever be 'made an example of' thats perverting justice to make a political point. It results in discriminatory prosecution. If someone breaks the law, then obviously they 'crossed the line' right there & there are sentencing guidelines for a reason.

Ive just read that a woman has been given a custodial sentanced for looting a bang & olufsen TV set. When an MP (Gerald Kaufman) fraudently claimed an expensive bang & olufsen TV on expenses he faced no sentance. Hes still an MP, clamouring for a crackdown on looters.

He's not my MP, but I live near to his constituency and I didn't know that. I used to quite like him, but seriously politicians are not to be liked. When I was at sixth form, David Chaytor gave a talk in my politics class and at the time I liked him...before I knew he was a thief.

Sorry to derail the topic.

I guess that proves my earlier point about the naive and less streetwise looters taking the fall. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have been charged; a night in the cells and a caution would have been sufficient.

Certainly, I feel the government's stance on the riots is hypocritical to some extent; especially in relation to the video of the thugs robbing the injured person while pretending to help him. Isn't that what the government's doing with welfare claimants at the moment?

Society is NT screwed.Sorry I am off on an abstract' thinking' about 'them' and don't mean to insult just being objective. This makes me think we all need to work out how to evolve because- bald apes, we all are with weapons that are horrific and this is just part of a whole system and one part revealed . The big is bombs and flattened cities, the small is bricks and broken windows. The same.

You're blaming NTs, or did I misinterpret?

not just the looters anymore. this is incredible.

A MOTHER-of-two who slept through the riots was jailed for five months yesterday after accepting a pair of looted shorts from a friend the morning after the mayhem.
