For all the conservative talk about "teaching a man to fish," I see little or any effort in helping people new trades or getting better educations. If anything, the right is guilty of cutting back programs that would provide such opportunities or education.

Likely, doctors can video conference with patients anywhere in the world.
Likely, medicine can be sent anywhere in the world.
Likely, lab tests can be taken locally, and mailed to a lab anywhere in the world.
They even have robots for surgeons to perform remote surgery.

But not everyone has access to that sort of technology. A lot of times, it would be easier to just bring people here to America for help.

Trade schools and community or online colleges exist for that. And before that Americans spend 12 years in school being taught how to fish. There are also free services available like consumer credit counseling to teach people how to manage their budget and so on. The thing with all of those resources is they do not just hand money over to people. They give them the skills to obtain it.

I'm happy for Scandanavia, Russia and Alaska to remain a blonde "Wunderland" if they want.

Fine and dandy if you can afford tuition for trade schools. Even community colleges are hardly cheap. Not to mention there are schools that teach you trades that are practically obsolete, such as manual type writer repair which had been taught in my neck of the woods when people were already shifting from electric type writers to computer keyboards.

I expected that sort of reply. I guess anything other than government assistance is out of the question.

There are proposals to make tuition free for all.
We can’t afford it and they’d have to forgive everyone’s loans pre change.
My state gives 18 year olds two years of college free, i don’t get my two years of loans forgiven. It’s not fair.
It’s debt that in part means I can never have a live in gf.
Eventually it’ll make me homless and starve to death if I live 15 more years.

I have never heard of this? does this happen in Puerto Rican communities? I have read that Mexicans and South Americans are very self-conscious about their complexion to the point of denying any African heritage and ex-communicating family who marry darker skinned individuals.

each race has something important to add to the gene pool and I just read something on the BBC about how mixed race people with Leukemia were having difficulty finding stem cell donor matches. It is important to preserve each race.
The issue over bone marrow transplants and stem cell compatibility is to do with registries not getting enough mixed race donors which is a situation that will change as more mixed race donors come forward. The idea that interracial mixing should be avoided in case your child might get leukaemia sounds like something the users on the far right web site stormfront might post. They were apparently recently celebrating that caucasians have a gene that allows digestion of lactose missing in some east Asian populations by drinking buckets of milk. Not really a valid reason is it....

I don't understand getting rid of race. Some of the most beautiful people I admire visually are the very dark black women, in everyday life and on the cover of magazines. Why would anyone want to get rid of that? I think it's beautiful. I can't say I've paid a great deal of attention to the men, but I'm going to start looking closer to see if they are as beautiful as the women.
I haven't changed my mind about the concept of intermarriage for the express purpose of doing away with race is as eugenics is, in relation to abortion of more black children. Somebody out there doesn't want black or white babies being conceived. That's awful!
And I'll be sure to pass along my sympathies to current sufferers of Leukemia by telling them to take heart! They may die, but 50 years from now there will be enough mixed race donors on the registry so others can live. Science should have foreseen this dilemma and kept up, not having a way to support mixed race Leukemia patients is unacceptable.

To avoid the financial burden, and assuring the ease of entering needed classes and programs, then yes.

You may not like this but I do think some people should lose their freedom especially when they abuse it and when they're incompetent to handle it and handle the responsibilities that come along side freedom.

Yes, you indicated it's a shame people have the freedom to ruin their lives.
You're presuming that they chose to ruin their own lives.
Quote:
I see things from a freedom perspective.
Freedom means nothing if one is dead.
Quote:
Your accusation that "it's shameful" is an anti-freedom perspective, as it means something should have been done to STOP these people from ending up as derelicts. However, to STOP them, then you have to implement anti-freedom measures.
By your logic then we shouldn't stop people who attempt suicide. This makes no sense at all. Why wouldn't we put in measures to prevent people from destroying themselves.
Quote:
Like, ban these people from using drugs, or implement rent control (so they can afford an apartment) , require employers pay them a "living wage", or a hundred other anti-freedom measures.
I will say our drug laws have failed. But, I have a better idea. Why don't we try to understand the conditions that lead people to using drugs and/or destroy themselves and do things to improve and/or mitigate these conditions?
I say you should be proud you live in a country that lets these people have the freedoms to become derelicts.
Why? Why do I have to be proud of where I live at all? For what? What's the point? I don't get it.
