No....it’s not time for fascism.

Let’s not entertain that sort of thought.

Of course I have empathy for everyone in these tough times. But seriously ... death is quite a trap too. So is being forced into hospital with a horrible illness that could have been prevented, especially in the US where many people don't even have decent health insurance. They get to pay for their illness and treatment at the expense of their families.

This isn't nice for anyone. I agree. But nothing is more important than protecting others.

It's a moral imperative.

Seriously, this whole thing can be over by the summertime if people would just follow the social distancing rules. It's just a few weeks of your life. Then everything can return to normal. But they're too impatient and they keep breaking the rules.

The rules in the UK were so mixed up. First it was "we're not doing anything to create here immunity. Go out."

"Ok, maybe don't go out to pubs and restaurants, but parks are ok."

"Keep 2 meters away from each other."

"That's not we said, you were meant to stay at home all along! You should have been mind readers."

So what Itally is doing right now is fascism?

What the USA did in past is fascism?
You know forced quarantine is only reason humanity has survived this long?

On a personal note, my friend has it, and asked if she can stay with me because she doesn't want to be alone in case the worst happens. I said sure--after she goes to a hospital and then makes sure she doesn't spread it to me (by wearing a mask and gloves, washing hands, clothes, etc.). Well, she says the hospital won't take her unless and until she needs a respirator. So I'm screwed. Even by following such protocols, she can still spread it.

I am amazed, I spoke with someone from the state's emergency Management office who actually showed some sort of interest in the question I was asking.

Some more research:

The Incubation Period of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) From Publicly Reported Confirmed Cases: Estimation and Application

There were 181 confirmed cases with identifiable exposure and symptom onset windows to estimate the incubation period of COVID-19. The median incubation period was estimated to be 5.1 days (95% CI, 4.5 to 5.8 days), and 97.5% of those who develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days (CI, 8.2 to 15.6 days) of infection. These estimates imply that, under conservative assumptions, 101 out of every 10 000 cases (99th percentile, 482) will develop symptoms after 14 days of active monitoring or quarantine.

I don’t believe the military should interfere with civilian government. That sets a bad precedent.

Look at the history of military dictatorships.

Saying this, people congregating in large groups on the beaches during an epidemic is ridiculous.

Um no. If she can't go to hospital then I would give my regrets and say no.
You can talk to her daily by facetime or phone, to check on her.

The last thing you need is for both of you to be sick.

I am surprised to discover how many people don’t know how virus really work even though these are stuff we took in school (injecting RNA/DNA in cell, transforming cell to a virus factory...etc); most people don’t even know the difference between bacteria and virus either. Very very basic stuff in biology.

The epidemic is making realize how huge the gap is between nerds vs normies.

How will she know when she needs a respirator? Does she have a pulse oximeter at home?

I'm slowly improving but it still causes a bit trouble. Sometimes I was nearly OK and then it got worse again. It's not a big thing but I hate if anykind of a cold lasts more then just few days.

That's what you get for not wearing a mask

You'll get it either at work, in shops or anywhere else where people are. Better to have it now then at a time where there aren't any free places in hospitals anymore in case that you need one like in Italy already. The devil takes the hindmost.

:? Wouldn't you rather take your chances after a treatment has been developed?

:? Do you not think that the same thought might have occured to a huge segment of the population already?

Better sit tight like a submarine commando :D

Military serves on behalf of the civilian government.
Was licoln a faccist?

I don’t want two years of virus hell cause people don’t want to stay inside for two weeks.
They saying if people don’t we might be dealing with his and worse lockdowns until June/July. How will the economy deal with months of lockdown?

Two weeks now, or months of it down the road, pick?

The USA and other democracy’s have done martial laws and gone back to normal. This won’t be any different.

I agree but I don't know how I'm going to learn to say no in a literal day or less. I can try to suggest that but if she pulls at my proverbial heartstrings I'll give in. She doesn't manipulate me or anything, I just know myself.

Los my job or lose my mom?
Work called they reduced hours but want me to come work, course they might just fire me any day even if I do go work, so I could catch it and be fired anyways.
Mean the people shopping most don’t think it’s real so they come in sick. Same for employees.
If I go and wear gloves the others will make fun of me and call me a p****.

Work is out of hand Sanitizers, almost out of gloves, low on cleaning supplies.

Lincoln was President during a war on his own homeland.

Did I say I believe in unbridled going out and congregating amongst people? No. I don’t. People should stay home unless they have to get necessities. Or they could take a walk, alone, and maintain social distancing.

People should fight the urge to consider extreme measures for everything.

We had 9/11. We could have easily gone the way of military dictatorships. But we didn’t. Cooler heads prevailed.
