Well, because no one is the Antichrist; and it's just political extremism to slap that label of being absolute evil on someone just to demonize them. For instance, I think Rick Perry is a political reactionary who has tied himself to religious nutballs, and we'd be far worse off electing him to the White House, but I'm not going to call him the Antichrist.

Speaking of religious nutballs, yesterday Terry Gross on Fresh Air interviewed one of the top leaders in the New Apostolic Reformation movement who are closely associated with Rick Perry. He said Japan had sided with Satan because the emperor had had ritualistic sexual intercourse with the Sun Goddess. Not kidding.

Dear Aimless, thank you, I found her; her name is Amaterasu, and rather than being a sexual partner of any Japanese emperor, she is their ancestress. The royal line of Japan was believed to have descended from her, and in 1945 the emperor said that no one was allowed to say that this was not true. Sounds like the 'Apostolic leader' needed to do some historical research. Sylkat

I don't know... I'm pretty skeptical about the whole "Anti-christ", "world ending in 2013" and "rapture" stuff. Especially when the rapture that was supposed to happen didn't happen.
Although, one of my co-workers didn't show up for work that day and nobody, not even his mom, knew where he was. We all joked about it, including the managers.
He was there the next day, and we were all like "Man, we thought the Rapture got you. We were really sad"
Wait... did I just completely miss the point of this topic?

Actually, I don't know of any Mainline Christian denominations who buy into that evangelical crap, either.

Dear Aimless, That is EXACTLY the implication! I don't know if that show is heard internationally, but that guy's comments could have caused a demand for apologies for slander, you know. The Japanese still revere their royalty, and what was said was irresponsible as well as insulting! Sylkat
