presumably this wasn't a paying gig for her, she did it out of good will, an attribute not normally associated with the porn industry.

I think that alone ought to give her a pass from people's judgements.

i don't think it's horrible she was reading to the kids. i mean, a parent could be an ex porn star and could volunteer in a classroom. what i do question is why she was considered as a good choice to do so as she is such a horrible role model and han't done anything noteworthy. at least a parent ex-porn star would have a connection to the classroom and community.

if a teacher is going to bring a special guest into the classroom, it is their responsibility to make sure that the person is a good role model in some way. not to say they have to be pure as the driven snow, but her career is based entirely on debasing herself (with special guest starring and other bit parts later on).

in fact, if you disregard her porn work altogether, she is a nobody. so why bother having a nobody read to the class? may as well ask random people off the street to read to the kids. she was touted as some kind of celebrity, and the celebrity part was built on something that is not healthy to promote with kids.

i think she could have something to contribute, but in a different way. if she was a reformed pornstar who wanted to talk about the evils of the industry or something, i could see that having a place in a high school environment. she could have an inspirational talk or something. i think at that age students have the emotional maturity to deal with the mixed messages that a ex porn star carries by default. but not in grade 5.

I assume the school would gladly have any nice, presentable, and personable volunteer reading to kids. I guarantee that the kids won't think "omg a porn star read to us, let's go get in to porn!" They won't even know unless their prudish, meddling parents tell them about it. All the kids know is that some nice lady came in and read a book to them.

Oh, the horror!

Exactly, but the news media cannot let that happen without causing a big fuss

She is an actress. She has starred in non-porn films too, notably Smash Cut alongside the late, great David Hess.

Why must it be negative? What about the other, sex-positive liberal feminist side of the argument? For example in the UK, female porn director Anna Arrowsmith (who, incidentally, stood for the centre-left Liberal Democrats at the last election) and others often speak in the UK about the female experiences in porn, as do other current and former female pornstars. They claim their experiences have been extremely positive.

I think the porn industry is probably like life in general only more polarised.

no, she is being touted as someone more important than any old nice, presentable, and personable volunteer. she was intentionally brought in as a special guest, which is different than having a random person come in and read. she is only famous for the porn, not for the "acting" she did after that, so she is kind of irrelevant as any sort of special guest.

do you honestly think they just have some person come into the classroom and don't even introduce her to the kids?

by the way, it is easy to find people to come in to read to kids (i am a teacher, so i know). volunteers are a dime or dozen, so it's not some kind of desperate situation where they are begging any nice person to come in. so she's not needed in that sense.

"meddling" parents? errrrr what? it's a parent's JOB to meddle in their kids' lives.

Exactly. That's the first thing I thought when I read all the stuff about negativity.

Next people are gonna be coming on this thread saying masturbation is a sin

are you saying that posters on this thread are not beautiful, sexy or experienced?

and Tequila, elementary school is not the proving ground for what is considered sex positive. they are barely learning the basics of sex education at that age. it is a high school or university level subject.

Keep it neutral then.
