They're also making trouble for ordinary people, most of whom work. They won't be happy with their antics. A similar thing is happening in the UK with regard to the public sector - they're throwing their weight around at the moment but they have very little support outside their heartlands.

Many of them have jobs.......and some of you act like work is the only thing that matters in life. I more or less support the whole thing and do not currently have a job and no garantee I will be able to find one or keep one and I am sure I am not the only one on this website who knows what that's like.

They do, they go to the protests on their time off.....obviously most people do not work 24/7.......are you suggesting they should?

No, I'm suggesting that they (and remember most of these people are white privileged kids) shouldn't waste their free time messing up other peoples' jobs and instead either sit their fat asses in front of X Factor repeats or Call of Duty or maybe even do something f**king constructive for once.

No actually most of them are not, there are quite a few poor and homeless people, and people of all different races...and yes that includes some white privileged kids, but remember not all white kids are privileged that is a misconception. Also if cant get over the idea that the purpose of life is to work you're not going to understand. The point is we have a corrupt system that is screwing many people over working for the system does not change anything so by disrupting those jobs its bringing attention to the corruption that goes on. Yes I am sure the 1% and the federal government would love people to just be quiet and work rather then try to challenge the system.

Have you even gone to any of these protests? I have so I have seen the sort of people there.

Every single piece of video and every single image I've seen of these protests has been full of people aged at around 18-25 with iPhones and cups of Starbucks coffee. Very homeless and poor, yeah, with their £500 smartphones and social networking to set all this BS up

And "the 1% own 99% of the wealth" thing is an utterly bulls**t statistic as you already know, stop throwing it around as if it actually means something.

.

Will you kindly stop this exaggeration. Please. In the U.S. one percent own about 40 percent of the financial assets. It is about half that much in Japan. You don't see Occupy the Ginza in Japan, do you?

ruveyn

Its not an exageration its a rough estimate based on the world population and the amount of people who control most of the worlds wealth and resources. I was just trying to explain that the Occupy movement has nothing to do with the middle class, it has to do with a small amount of people being in control of most of the worlds wealth and resources and how the majority of people are getting screwed by a small group.

I mean you can agree or disagree with that, but that is what the Occupy movement is about wether you or anyone else likes it or not

I agree with the movement I just wish people were able to do a bit more than occupy. I think the middle class needs to step up it's game and start petitioning for better human resources and less corporate freedoms. We should have more government policies that prevent corporations from needlessly looking for cheaper labor. If nothing is done than there could be a lot more poor and a lot less middle class.

What exactly should these policies be? We already have thousands of laws on the books. How effective have they been? How effective has the disability act been? What if more laws will not work because we're fighting human nature? If most of the population do not want to follow a given law is it not only as good as the paper it is written on?

What if this is the problem with autism rights? Does it work to force others who don't want to associate with us to associate with us? Is it proper, right and appropriate to force those to associate with people they don't want to associate with? How do we resolve this?

I'm not going to support a form of facism or Communism which is what OWS is basically advocating.

I trust rich people more than Big Government.

I do not trust either.

Because we all know we have such honest media and they always show everything, they never stretch the truth or censor what images/videos they show. Though I do not see anything bad about people more well off than myself participating in or supporting the movement but that is certainly not what the majority of the crowd looks like. That is why I asked if you've actually been to any of the protests.

and I explained before the 99% and 1% are not perfectly exact statistics, before claiming it does not reflect any amount of truth why don't you go look up what it means.......also there is a documentary out called The 1% I belive and it was created by this guy from one of those super wealthy families who thinks the stuff that goes on is f*cked up and wanted to try and expose it to the public so why don't you go look that up instead of just beliving all the lies from the media.

Look, stop throwing around the 99% of the wealth thing.

If you actually want to be listened to produce an actual graph that says it.

I'm not watching Fox News and listening to every word they tell me, though, I'm talking about images from multiple news sources as well as protesters themselves uploading videos and pictures to YouTube and Twitter and stuff. I see very few homeless people and a lot of fairly well-off people with their iPhones out.

The stat is wrong. Simple as that.

Produce an actual graph that disproves it...the point is a rather small amount of people own/control most of the worlds wealth & resources and have a lot of influence on various governments including the U.S federal government. I have never claimed its a perfectly accurate statistic, I have however more than once explained what it means.

Having a cell phone does not prove someone is well off.....I have a very cheap pay as you go phone and I'm certianly not the only one. And yes corporations are in charge of a lot of production and distribution of goods its kind of hard to escape that unless, you live in an area that allows for you to be self suffcient or are in a self sufficient commune.

I don't see how showing a picture of protestors who have items really disproves that around 1% of the population controls most of the worlds wealth & resources. All that does is prove its very hard to get around the system due to the way it's set up.

You said 99% of the wealth is controlled by one percent right?

the top one percent of the country owns 34.6% of the wealth in total net worth; the next 19% owns 50.5%; the bottom 80% owns 15%.

I said the worlds wealth & resources, and yes I think its around 1% controlling around 99% of the worlds wealth & reasources.

quit making accusations, if you have something that disproves it I will gladly look at it....but don't try and act like i am trying to exagerate to get a point across because there would be no reason for me to do that.

When it's all done, the rich will probably will own that much. OWSers are aware of this. You can't tell me it's not trending that way.

Dear "Occupy" Movement,

Get the *&^%$#@ outta my way and let me get to work!
