his spiritual ancestors burned witches at the stake in salem.

Airquotes around "witches." heck, who's to say some of these "witches" WEREN'T Autistic???

Well anyone who was the least bit odd back then...and during the inquisition... was deemed a witch, so it is possible that a large number of autistics were burned at the stake.

there....proof of the autistic genocide.

That, or they were deemed demonically possessed.

which often resulted in torture and/or death to exorsize the "demon"

Still does happen. The girl in the real life case that inspired The Exorcism Of Emily Rose died because of the prolonged physical abuse administered by two priests that she had endured.

Well I know Republicans have this apparent future to want to do this kind of torture even to those who are adults with Autism and Aspergers, apparently I am sure Fox News has a real grudge on them.

I think there was a WP member who had said his former church had tried to perform an exorcism on him to cast out his Asperger's - which is why he left that particular religious body.
And no, unfortunately I can't recall who that might have been.

You, good sir, made my afternoon :)

I shudder to think about it though. I have a hypoxic brain injury to the right hemisphere of the brain (intelligence unaffected, and my neurophysiology and its manifestations are very similar to Asphergers). My mother opted against me being diagnosed. All I can think of is this- what if that madman instituted mandatory testing of all children? I can hide my neurophysiology quite well now (hence no one at school knows, they just think I'm dorky and awkward) , and could fake my way through a test, but I couldn't when I was 5! Would he have people like me sent away to special "schools" which would so isolate us from the rest of society that we would only exist on the fringe, segregated from society, unable to lead the productive lives many of us currently go on to lead? Chilling really.

Apparently one other religion seems to respect Aspies or specific people in the Autism Spectrum of Disorders(ASD) seems to have support for them, Japanese Shinto, I know of this because of a question I asked awhile back and got some promising responces on it,

Now there is a reason why it seems the religion that seems generic and what republicans just like Rick Santorum feel they see Autism and Aspergers as scum of the planet, and now a Horse Racing board has a problem with me in there, and apparently because of one thing,

It is involved with the Fox Network/News Corp, also with Fox News, the heavy Tea Party/Conservertive Republican network that seems to can't get along and tend to be racist, and Moderates are not even like that.

I'm happy I made your afternoon. :D
My fear is that people like Santorum would end special education, which has been very beneficial for my daughter, and would essentially leave like children without their needs being met. Instead, spurious "cures" would be inflicted on them, which would only cause harm. And when they aren't cured - well, then they'd be pushed out into the margins of society, without any hope for a future.
Monsters like Rick Santorum MUST BE STOPPED!! !! !! !!

Bill, that is why we are seeing more people try to support this person, and now are even attacking Moderate Republicans hard because they would support Special Ed and such, and I am seeing that this is a warning sign that racism is going to get much worse in 2012, not just color, Nationality and religion, but now Disablities are going to be targeted too, and it makes me angry more than ever.

I've been steaming mad against these bastards like Santorum already for some time. Anyone who attacks my little girl simply because she receives special education, for the autism which she had inherited from me, is in my mind heartless scum. Remember, eugenics, and the practice of forced sterilization of mentally and physically "undesirables" continued in some states as late as the seventies. I wouldn't be surprised if fanatics on the right wold try to bring it back again one day.

I'm worried about that too. I shudder to think of these neurodiverse children being hauled away to be subjected to "treatments" that would only harm them physically and emotionally. I would hate to be marginalized-once I learned to socialize, I figured out that I rather like society, even if it can be hard sometimes. I would hate to be cast to the outskirts of it!

Rick Santorum is a danger to society and must NEVER BE ELECTED AT ANY COST!! ! I dare say I would write-in Micky Mouse before I casted a vote for Santorum.

My pediatrician thought I should have been sterilized.
There is a big case going on in North Carolina about their former eugenics program that went on until the mid 70's
Some people are saying that Santorum is sent by the Pope....their rhetoric is eerily similar. If thatis the case, eugenics is not something he would approve of.
Not sure what his stance is on Special ed.

I personally hated special ed. In my state, Georgia, if you were in special ed, you got a special ed degree, which was worthless in getting into college or anything that required documentation of your degree. To get a "real" degree, you had to take the GED test, after all those years in school.
So before you totally fall in love with special ed, you need to find out your state's degree qualificatons for special ed.

I think it's disgusting that a pediatrician should think any child should be sterilized. What a Nazi.
And I don't know how special ed here in Washington compares to Georgia - I just know that in our school district, the special ed programs are considered to be outstanding. I will keep it in mind to ask my daughter's teacher if a special ed degree is any different from that of a mainstream class high school degree in my state.

Forced sterilization? Special Ed degrees that are worthless? What is wrong with our world?

Why can't some NTs accept those different from themselves? It makes me so sad and so livid, why are we considered inferior? Heck, who invented the computer Santorum typed on?

Makes me so, so angry....it's no better than racism or sexism, it really isn't.

Autistc wants Rick Santorum cured.

I have 357 millimeters-- oops, I mean milliliters-- of cure ready for injection. Bring in the patient.

I AM SPEAKING FIGURATIVELY!! !! Rick Santorum is a fellow human being; I have no desire to kill him. No one else should either.

However, gallows humor is a defense mechanism, and one I prefer.

Someone should tell Rick Santorum (who I am sure sees everything through his ardent wish that Bella could be "fixed") that autistics (and homosexuals, and Pagans, and quite a few other demographics) are fellow human beings.

I am tired. So, so very tired.

Rick Santorum daughter has Trisomy 18 a Chromosomal defect. He using her in his anti abortion stance.
I also wish NT's could accept those who are different.

Yeah. That was kind of my point.

Like most fundamentalists, he seems to have a problem acknowledging that any point of view other than his own can even exist, let alone possess validity.

Not the kind of guy I want for a leader.

Not like I want any of the alternatives, either. Sad when choosing your Commander In Chief becomes an attempt to identify the lesser and greater evils.

I personally feel pretty safe with President Obama, but that's just me.
