And when is that 10% supposed to be withdrawn? On tax day, in one lump sum? I would be okay with them setting up a payment plan. However I want them writing the check to the government, not it simply being taken out of their paycheck.

I want people to know they are paying something to the government, not it being taken out in some hidden means.

Hidden means? I don't know of a single person who doesn't understand how and why payroll taxes are taken out of their paychecks.

Actually, I wouldn't mind the sales tax being abolished, and the idiotic mess of a tax code replaced with a simple 10% income tax.

More magical thinking on your part. 10% wouldn't provide a functional government, not that ours is all that functional now.

Yeah, but people don't have to actually write the check for it, if people have to physically write the check, then they are more apt to pay attention to what government does with that money.

Don't care which they believe, either way they will get just as angry as the people that do pay income taxes when the government starts wasting taxpayer money.

Or maybe not, as they would be paying their payroll tax, and unemployment insurance, which they know they will have to depend on.

They don't have to consciously write the check in those cases, and with direct deposit, they often don't see the amounts being taken out of their paychecks either.

Certainly that. If someone wants to know my income and marks I will happily tell him to f*ck off.

Unfortunately, the most powerful man in the world - or someone wishing to be elected the most powerful man in the world - doesn't have that freedom, simply because telling someone to f**k off doesn't make you look presidential.

Romney released the tax returns because of Harry Reid's phony claims that Romney didn't pay taxes...

Then I guess that would be like Obama showing his birth certificate because of Trump's phony claims that he wasn't born in this country. That is, Trump and all the tea baggers and birthers. I'll tell you what: I might just concede Reed was wrong, if you admit Trump and company were wrong.

Donald Trump is a private citizen, if he believes Obama's birth certificate is false, he's entitled to his opinion.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is in charge of the United States Senate, he is speaking from a position of authority as the man in charge of the senate, he used that position to try to smear Mitt Romney. What's more he lied about having inside information to prove Romney didn't pay taxes.
