I think the girls were all heroin addicts, so there's a chance it's some sort of twisted "cleaning up the streets" vigilante thing.

I think Heroin and Prostitution tends to go hand in hand. Lets face it, after the first murders which prostitutes are the ones who couldn't take a few days off? The ones with an addiction to feed.

Whoops, new info.

I heard on a late night news broadcast last night that a fat guy with glasses and a BMW was spotted by at least one witness, and may be a "person of interest".

Not only that, but the Wikipedia article has a non-cited fact that hair may have been removed from each of the victims.

Judging by the fact that his dumps have become more public (assuming it's the same guy who did all 5), he's seeking attention, either taunting police, or maybe showing remorse. I favour the former, myself. Who knows?

Hey, here's a good link to a possible killer profile on The Guardian website.

God the stuff Michael Berry said is spooky.

Here's the Guardian website for the Suffolk Murders in general:

Right news update, they have narrowed the list of subjects down to 50 men. I think this person is very intelligent, how comes with CCTV footage and mobile records they can't home in on this guy? I still suspect a police man! I live in Cambridge so I get the local news for Ipswich, they did (no disrespect to victims) but an awful saccharine montage at the end of Look East of a church vigil/memorial service with watery images of the women and choral music. Ruddy ell, candles soft focus, and get this Ipswich has run out of rape alarms, there was a shot of a 90 year old pensioner queuing for one, no offence love but you're just panic buying!

It's funny you say because people assume it's a man. It may well be a man that is killing off these prostitutes, but has anyone considered that it could be a woman? One that has gone completely mad after finding out her husband has been sleeping with prostitutes? How insulted would you feel as a woman to find out that your fella would rather pay for sex than sleep with you......

Maybe you're right, but generally, I'd say the woman involved in this theoretical scenario would be satisfied with only bumping off the prostitute as well as (possibly) her husband. Women are much less likely to be serial killers than men. When they are, they're notorious (Wuornos, for example).

Women are normally more empathic than men (in general. I consider myself to be relatively empathic, to my detriment), and therefore are less likely to commit murder, and certainly a series of murders.

If the guy's smart enough, he'll stay away from CCTV cameras. They'd be sparsely distributed in that area, compared to London, anyway.

In the slim chance that it is a woman, it would have to be a fairly STRONG woman in order to strangle those prostitutes like that (they were strangled weren't they?).
It's highly unlikely a woman would choose that type of murder method. I have a hunch that women would tend to choose a more quicker method of death such as a gunshot.

Biggest mistake criminal investigators have made in the past is not thinking a female is capable of stuff so to rule it out will be none logical on past history they is many types of female's that are capable of the same strength of a male..

"We are keeping an open mind. We may be looking for one perpetrator, there may be more."

On Sunday, the body of Anneli Alderton, 24, of Harwich, Essex, was found at Nacton. It follows the discovery of the naked body of Gemma Adams, 25, in a stream at Hintlesham on December 2 and that of Tania Nicol, 19, in a pond at nearby Copdock on December 8.

Since December 2, the bodies of five women have been found dumped in the area, prompting a massive manhunt by Suffolk Police.

Gemma and Tania were discovered five miles apart in the same stretch of water. Both were naked but the cause of their deaths is still unclear and there is no evidence to suggest either had been sexually assaulted.

Toxicology tests are being carried out on on the first two victims - Gemma Adams, 25, and Miss Nicol, 19 - to discover whether or not they had any substances in their bodies which could have played a part in their deaths. The causes of their deaths have not yet been revealed.

The third victim, Anneli Alderton, 24, was asphyxiated. Her naked body was found in Nacton last Sunday.

They also said a girl who had been reported missing has now been found. A police spokeswoman said officers had been told the girl had gone missing with her boyfriend.

However, she was later found safe and well.

Police yesterday refused to reveal how many individuals were in their sights for the Suffolk murders but sources suggested that the number was less than 50 — not all of them men who used prostitutes.

One of five prostitutes found murdered in Ipswich during the past two weeks was expecting a child, a police chief confirmed today.

Anneli Alderton, whose body was found in woods at Nacton on Sunday, was three months pregnant.

However, Jacqui Cheer, Suffolk’s Assistant Chief Constable, said detectives did not regard Miss Alderton's pregnancy as being of “relevance” to the inquiry.

"Miss Alderton was three months pregnant," said Mrs Cheer. "But we do not regard that as having any relevance to the inquiry - however sad it may be."

Mrs Cheer said detectives were making good progress in their hunt for the man thought to be the biggest serial killer seen in Britain in the past 25 years.

News update. The client of two of the murdered women was a high ranking Police Officer from a neighbouring county. Could he be the perpetrator, its been clear so far that the murderer is very good at covering his tracks. Its a man who likes to be in control, who has employed working girls to meet his needs, neat and tidy. Like I said before I fink its a copper!

Be careful, Louise!

HOWEVER: It seems the killer has a loathing of prostitutes, so provided you're not leaving business cards in call boxes at the moment, you shouldn't have anything to fear.

Just notice from you putting that last post read the others and noticed this....

****
I agree that it should be legalised, too. Women are going to do it whether it's legal or not, so the government might as well put some effort into helping them be healthy and safe.
*****

They do try to help allot, you can only offer the help it's up to the person to take it, no point wasting your time if they don't want help or won't take the step...

And allot of people take they time out and go round offering coffee - tea - advice and updated information of the local going on - also protection ...

Just thought I would put that...

Might want to look at this Lou

He was active in 1888 - somehow I doubt that a serial killer could go underground for nearly 120 years and survive to do it again.
