I believe this is a case of confused causation vs correlation. while it is true that most scientists are atheists... it is not true that all atheists are scientists... Atheism is a belief that god doesn't exist... and I know many nihilists that believe this

The people I know who are athiest tell me that science has disproved that there is such a thing as god. So according to them it is actually a science. They say garble like "There is no god. It's science." So of course I reply " O.k. it's science, now go F yourself."

Simply put... Science does not disprove there is a god... anymore than religion proves that one exists.
While I am an atheist... I say challenge the next person that says that... ask them to cite the studies and ask for the proof that there is no being greater than us. As far as I am aware (and I devour information on the subject of science like a raptor ripping through a kindergarten), there have a) been no studies into whether or not god exists b) conclusively disproven his existence or c) as a corollary, proven this...
Atheism, theist, agnosticism or a personal religious belief is just that... a belief... And because just because you have encountered lackwits does not mean that all atheists believe that atheism is science... I am an atheist, but my atheism has little to do with science, and everything to do with personal experiences...
