I could turn that around into something that hurts their feelings or at least angers them into calling me something that starts with the letter t.

According to Elizabeth Borathy, the best beauty cream came from the blood of young maidens.

You use that as a skin toner, the baby fat as a moisturizer.

Yes I think having one crazy right wing nut running America back in the 1980s was educationally valuable to the public not to make the same mistake twice

If they are here, it is much easier to bring to bear equipment and lab facilities to manage their treatment. Also a prevention or cure might be found if the right facilities are at hand.

I agree. And besides, we're talking about fellow Americans, who through no fault of their own are facing life threatening jeopardy. How can we not help our own in America?

We can and should, of course, help our fellow Americans anywhere in the world but it they do not necessarily have to be actually be brought to America to receive that help. Just do it someplace over there. If I were an ebola infected American abroad I'd rather remain in place in a containment effort and receive whatever help there increase the risk of infecting my country.

I don't know of another single country in the world that would allow foreigners with Ebola in their borders to be treated, and the African countries where the disease is rampant are hardly known for their medical science. And sure, we could transfer all the necessary medical equipment to Africa, but that would probably take way too much time than it would to just bring the patients to this country, taking the risk that said patients might die while waiting.

South Africa is one such country. There was a case, just a few weeks ago where a man from central Africa had been flown into the country to get treated. I think that he died in Baragwanith Hospital in Johannesburg, though the the head of the hospital is denying that it was ebola, saying that it was hemorrhagic fever, probably to avoid a panic, while the doctor who treated him is saying that it was.

Its just all media hype, trying to keep people scared of something. The fact is that in order to catch Ebola, you have to come in contact with the person's bodily fluids. Its not air borne. Unless they sneeze on you. Or bump into you and get their sweat on you. Or if they have sex with you. I'll stop at this point ....

Here ya go ....

To put it into perspective: Over two thousand children under the age of five die each day from diarrhea.

I sure as hell hope these guys are well quarantined. I'd hate to see an Ebola epidemic in North America.

A businessman in Saudi Arabia has now died of Ebola. Also a nurse in Nigeria (there had already been a handful of cases there).
Spain is planning to bring one of their infected citizens home for treatment.
It keeps on spreading, folks.

Edit to add:
The businessman is the type of case that bothers me.
Because (presumably)-
1 He wasn't in west Africa very long.
2 He wasn't spending time in hospitals, morgues, or the like.
3 He was staying at a hotel and not in some local's home.
How does a guy like that get infected? Ebola isn't supposed to be contagious unless the infected person is noticeably ill, and the man was more than likely aware of the disease and probably took average precautions.

I just read that the American who died in Nigeria was vomiting on the plane. Vomiting Ebola on an airplane, on an international flight. And where are the other passengers now? Who knows. Was the plane disinfected afterwards? No, because no one even knew he had Ebola until another 24 hours passed.
I'm buying some extra canned goods on my next trip to Costco. :?

It's amazing how fast viruses can spread, when there was the swine flu scare a few years back my son caught it about two weeks after it was on the news.He had it at the same exact time my daughter caught it,she was working at the market in downtown Seattle.I can understand her catching it,working in public, but he caught it here at home in rural Arkansas.
I'm stocking up on hand sanitizer before there's a run on it.And Lysol.Gonna spray the doorknobs down after every visitor.
