Are you willing to accept to lose some of your freedoms just to get a little security? I'm not, I prefer living in a world with a higher risk of a bomb being set off than losing only 1inch of freedoms, and if we get attacked, then we answer back to the attacks with more freedoms, more rights... After all those attacking us hate us for your freedoms, and when the states put more surveillance on the people, take away freedoms to protect us, it's basically what the enemy wants. And so far they are winning. If what I'm saying makes any sense?
So yes, Snowden and Assange are modern day heroes.

Assange showed us what a modern day hero he was when he refused to go to Sweden to face rape charges. Snowden is no better.
Yea, bogus "rape" charges that could have him end up being extradited to the US who threatened him with at best a quick execution but more likely a lifetime of torture. Snowden would get it even worse. These men are heroes, they have no choice but to flee a tyrannical evil government.
If you truely believe that the U.S. is a tyrannical evil government, I think you should travel to countries like Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Iran and Russia and spend some time there. You then might have a different prospective on the U.S. When you get back.

Threatening to execute whistleblowers is evil, torturing people is evil, waging aggressive war is evil. America is not as free as it thinks it is.

I think rape and informing people about how the government is essentially spying on its citizens and what not are two very different things, first one obviously being very immoral, second one I don't see what was so immoral about it....doesn't seem the intentions where to screw over the american people. So I'd say Snowden is certainly better than any rapist.

Depends what classified secrets Snowden has revealed to the public. If Snowden was simply a whistle blower revealing unethical or illegal activities engaged by government agencies, I would be applauding him. If however, he was releasing classified information putting at risk the lives of undercover government agents, working legally in the interest of the US government, I would be condemning his actions as immoral and as bad as Assange.

In many articles, Malala, the Afghan campaigner for female public education has stated that she feels that she is not ready for the Nobel Peace Prize, so therefore the Nobel Commitee should listen to her and wait until they feel she is ready to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. However, the Nobel Commitee should consider creating a new category in her honor; the Nobel Prize For Education.
Snowden is just a self-centered d-bag who got his wish by making a name for himself. BTW, that's just my opinion of Snowden.
Therefore, I'm predicting Pope Francis to be the winner for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.
Who do you think should win this year's Nobel Peace Prize?

Snowden risked his life to reveal the possibly unconstitutional actions of his government. Malala also risked her life and got shot in the head for saying that women deserve an education. What did the Pope do?

The U.S government has the wrong interests, so can't say I care to much for the people working in the interest of it.
