Are you implying that we're using the word "bullying" to shut Raptor up? Are you seriously trying to say that the jocks who taped up the kid weren't really bullies?!?!

I'd hazard a guess that's what Doxy and Raptor are saying, I think its on Pg 43 of their young Republican party manual. "Bullying doesn't exist. it's just a way young American boys become men"....

f**k, if bullying doesn't exist, then I don't.

That s**t made me the misanthropist I am now.

There are degrees of bullying, but it's still bullying.

I?m starting to think what you want is a witch hunt where anything that can be construed as bullying or can be twisted to convince the right people that an act was bullying and to burn the accused to the stake without further ado.
Don?t you think someone your age should be getting over high school and moving on?

You probably are doing just that but you should know by now that it won?t work. Your jock-a-phobia is really starting to work overtime on this. As stated, ?bully? is WP?s homegrown version of terrorist. I usually leave that topic alone out of understanding that a helluva lot of people on the spectrum have been victims of bullying.
This particular case is too benign to sound the bully alarm over and we?ve been over the reasons already.

Brings to mind how Mittens Romney and his high school chums had bullied a gay kid years before, holding him down and cutting off - I believe - his dyed bangs. That kid lived with the trauma for the rest of his life, and Mittens absolutely refused to come clean about having been an assh*le jock in school. Even Obama admitted how as a child, he used to pick on a little girl, and how he now regrets it.

Do you know what the word means? If so, this incident (and calling it an incident is giving it more credence than it deserves) needs to be kept in the per·spec·tive that it belongs in. It was not an act of terrorism and not one worthy of global discussion.

Ah, the troll accusation. If accusing someone of siding with bullies doesnt get the job done (suppressing opinion or just free speech) then call them a troll and see what that does. I'm guessing you're disappointed by now.

All I have to say to that is, wait till you become a dad, then your perspective will change dramatically. You won't be saying anything about how bullying just toughens a kid up, or how those high school experiences should just be forgotten. If your a good parent, you'll love and protect your kid even more so than you do your own life.

His autism may have been a factor but to me it's looking more like a practical joke than bullying.
Just from this I can't see where the suspensions were warranted, especially for the coach.

I don't think you need to be brain surgeon to interpret the two seniors picked on him for "special" treatment because he was vulnerable and probably could not resist or fight back when getting duct taped. That's what bullies do.

They didn't take pictures or put them on social media. The ?victim? even said he asked them not to take pictures and they didn?t. Some bullies, eh?
Quote:
"They duct-taped my hands, my legs, all the way up to my waist and then they attempted to try to take a picture of it. I told them 'no,' and they walked off disappointed."

The kid was on the soccer team himself.
?Austin returned to school Wednesday and played in the soccer game that evening, Mr. DiLucente said.?

This is a case of run of the mill hazing by members of the varsity squad to initiate a new player into the team. The facts we do know support this.

I read the article
Did you really? It's not looking like it.
Quote:
and it's fairly clear the the suspensions were definitely warranted as there was deprivation of liberty, humiliation and risk of harm to the autistic boy.
Perhaps you wouldn't mind being duct taped for hours to a goal post (the victim may have been left longer if not for a passing state trooper) and laughed at and photographed with your humiliation spread around social media to further torment you. The rest of us probably feel that 5 days suspension is not enough. The coach is responsible for keeping his kids safe. In that regard he failed.

The suspensions were a BS kneejerk reaction driven by the hysterical bawlings of an overprotective mom.
I don't think I?d like being taped to a goalpost but given that it can be chalked up to team hazing, that it was only 15 minutes , they didn't take pictures and put them on facebook, strip me, beat me up, or piss on me I think I?d get over it in a few hours or days at the most.

I was wondering how long it would be before you invoke your tired old political views. This has to do with bullying and has nothing to do with anyone's political (or lack of) beliefs.

Actually, it was your buddy Kraichgauer that brought politics into it first on page 1.

Again you attempt to bring politics into this (you did it first on page 1) and, true to your modus operandi, throw the gay thing in there.
Mitt Romney = Evil and hard-hearted
Barack Obama = The good guy
If your buddy expressed his regrets over the one little teasing incident I can assure you it was only while the cameras were rolling and his good side was showing.

Where did I anything about bullying just toughening a kid up?
I think (and I would carry out come hell or high water) that a kid, especially on the spectrum, should be socially coached early on and toughened up a little to deal with what they will be faced with because it will be there to be faced.
Bullying isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future, probably never. It can?t simply be legislated or educated away. It?s part of the instinctive prey-drive that is inherent to humans, having been inherited from animals. This is where evolution comes back to bite us in the ass.
The best we can do is conduct ourselves by the rules we know to be right while still being mentally and physically prepared to meet the animals we will meet.
This has been my position all along and I think you know it.

You'd be wrong. Dox is a libertarian, not a republican, and has stated so on numerous occasions.
That terrible Raptor is a republican mostly because he refuses to be democrat.
It seems that you know the Young Republican party manual chapter and verse so it leads one to wonder.........

I didn't accuse you of being a troll.
Also, your guesses about my motives and emotions are really far off base.

It does if you put the incident into the perspective it belongs in.

I'm not one of the ones that is blowing this little hazing incident out of proportion and misusing the term bullying.

I can see it being moved to PPR but probably not locked at this time. Other than accusing me of trolley and for siding with "bullies" (an age old tradition in PPR that the mods don't seem to mind as long as it's only a conservative being accused :P ) there have been no real personal attacks.

I am not condoning what happened, I think they went too far. I don't think I would have handled such an incident very well. I experienced quite a lot of (mostly mild) bullying at school, but fortunately, my school mates have grown up in the over 30 years since, and some apologized to me at the school reunion a few years ago...

However, to place it in perspective there's a much worse incident from Italy and no indication that the victim is even on the spectrum:

This is much more serious as the perps were much older than the victim:

This is my original statement. Even if your name was "This whole argument", you would still be incorrect in claiming that I called you a troll. I said the argument resembles trolling.
You seem really sensitive to any perceived slights against yourself, yet you argue that it's okay for other people to be tied up and left? That makes no sense to me.

I wouldn't care if you did. If anything I find it amusing. :P

Yeah, right, I am just so thin skinned.
Anyhoo, this is not the crime of the century that you and yours make it out to be.
What I can see unfolding as a result of this case is that now that the kid's fat mother has bawled and carried on like a hog with a corn cob stuck in its ass, hired an attorney, people have been suspended to include a coach that probably had nothing to do with this incident, this whole witch hunt, his chances of getting a soccer scholarship may very well have been shot in the ass. You can't just make a federal case like that and have it forgotten in a few years when college recruiters come around. They'll know all about what took place and won't touch that kid with a 10 ft. pole.
Fact: No one likes trouble makers and it doesnt even have to be true; just a rumor or the perception will do.
I'm basing this on the theory that the kid, being on the high school soccer team now, will at least want to pursue an athletic scholarship. This is based on the fact that the region is still in rebound after losing most of the steel and other industries in the 80's. Money doesn't grow on trees for most families in that region and that's why we moved away from there twice when I was a kid. People around there can't afford to f**k up the chance to get a scholarship over petty BS like that.
Really, how many more ways does this have to be illustrated?
