The idea that the West is somehow responsible for ISIS is ridiculous. Even if they have a bone to pick with the West and want to reduce their influence in the Middle-east, that may be a legitimate concern for them. But the beheadings and other barbaric s**t, no one makes them do it. They could just call themselves "resistance army" or whatever and not do the whole religious nuttery. They made their choice to be barbarians and the whole world hates them for it.

ISIS are monsters, their barbarity is unmatched but the point is to understand that things don't happen in a vacuum and the US who casts fault on everyone except themselves when it comes to these issues certainly has played more of a role than any other government in creating this mess. If the US didn't invade Iraq there is no ISIS, simple as that but there a lot more forks in the road we could have taken before and after that point where we'd be a lot better off but instead we keep this insane neoconservative/Wilsonian/Trotskyite foreign policy despite its continuous failures. Can anyone say that our War on Terror has been anything but a total policy failure, it has grown the Jihadist movement exponentially. Are we safer now, how has been worth it? We've lost an untold amount of blood, we've lost an untold amount of treasure, can anybody argue that we've even come out ahead since 9/11? These terrorists now control more territory, have a real army with real equipment, and generate/steal millions of dollars to boot almost every day.

The US is the most powerful influential country in the world, you better believe what we do in other countries has had a major effect on the state of the world right now so before the US casts blame on leaders like Bashar al-Assad or Vladimir Putin maybe we should look at ourselves. Dick Cheney and the rest of the satanic cabal that has created and maintains this police state and its policies of death are going to live the rest of their lives in luxury so who the hell are we to think we have any moral high ground with the rest of the world? In Spiderman the quote is "with great power comes great responsibility" and the US has shat all over the responsibility and for what? What have we the American people gotten out of this? I suppose there are a few more millionaire and billionaires out that have been inducted to the "club" but I don't think it is in our best interests.

Reading through a lot of this, I find some of the posts rather disturbing, not because they are incorrect, but because of the way "war strategy" comes in and takes hold as if it is some sort of strong anchor to save us from evil.

I think it's all really sad. Life isn't a game, like Risk is. War isn't a game.

Prophet muhammad never killed for amusement

Shortly after arriving in Medina in 622, Muhammad began raiding the merchant caravans traveling to and from neighboring Mecca. He would steal their property and kill anyone who defended it (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 424-425).

The Qurayza tribe despite being more powerful than Muhammed's followers were nuetral. Muhammed had declared “kill any Jew who falls into your power” (al-Tabari 7:97). Sa’d did render his decree that the men of Qurayza should be killed and their women and children pressed into slavery, Muhammad did not express the slightest bit of disapproval. In fact, the prophet of Islam confirmed this barbaric sentence to be Allah’s judgment as well (Bukhari 58:148).

There is no denying that Muhammad found pleasure in the slaughter, particularly after acquiring a pretty young Jewish girl (freshly "widowed" and thus available to him for sexual servitude) (Ishaq/Hisham 693). Other women were not quite as compliant. The historians record the reaction of one woman who literally lost her mind as her family was being killed. The executioners apparently found her maniacal laughter annoying and beheaded her as well. As Aisha later recounted:“I will not forget that she was laughing extremely although she knew that she would be killed" (Abu Dawud 2665)

One can forgive Aisha's obtuseness. At the time that she and her husband sat observing the carnage together, the wife of Muhammad was only 12-years-old. You have to wonder why a prophet of god found a need to satisfy his lust with a child?

If he was alive today he would fit into ISIS based on his behavior/conduct... they are not different...

It always amuses me when I read someone with a Yank-centric view of world events ....

The "War on Terror" (stupid term) wasn't really that much of a war. The war in Syria has been ignored by the international community and that is why ISIS has become so powerful there. It's only long after ISIS spilled over in Iraq that the rest of the world began to care about it. Iraq was a sectarian mess with a crummy army, so far for "nation building". The US and its allies have done too little, not too much.

Apparently ISIS didn't learn from the PLO's history to not mess with the wrong country and the wrong royal family.

Barbaric is using drones to kill strangers, in hopes one of them might be defending his home, people, world view. 100,000 Iraqis were killed because some kid did not think Saddam loved his Daddy Bush.
Kurds were armed, Anbar was Genocide.

Prisoners were tortured in Abu Greb. Tortured for years. Others were sent to Gitmo, all enemy combatant Prisoners of War. Many vanished, died under torture, and were not reported to the Red Cross as POWs.

Ten years in Afghanistan, bombing weddings and funerals.

2000 bombing runs, one pilot killed. Do you think they have the time to water board him everyday for two years?

Only civilized Christians think water boarding is holy water to drive out the devil, and torture is the way to save souls. The Islamic State kills people, they do not first torture them for years.

I do not see people from all over earth making their way to join your christian crusade. Thousands a month are joining IS. Thousands more are setting up local groups. It grows faster than you can bomb it, and more pilots will crash.

More bombs than all sides used in WWII were dropped on North Viet Nam, they won.

Just the Americans are spending over a million a day. China refuses to buy more Bonds.

What seemed a good press for the midterm elections, and backfired, is long term poison.

Bombing will not work, you can never stop bombing.

The western stronghold of the Kurds has been bombed to rubble to save it. Kurds have no other defense in Syria.

What next, killing all the people in Iraq's second largest city? Open Genocide?

The countries with the wealth and resources, all the choices and options, chose to disrupt and destroy other countries, and leave them ungovernable. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, half of Syria, Ukraine.

So who are the terrorists? Who has the largest body count?

Regardless, I'm not going to give ISIS a break. Burning people to death, and decapitating them slowly with a knife is hardly the work of anyone more moral than us. And just because people are running to join ISIS in droves is hardly reason to think their cause is of any worth; after all plenty of people joined the KKK for equally insane reasons.

But most of that wasn't terrorism, it was warfare and the side-effects (starvation and such). The Thirty Years War may have killed around half of the population in certain parts of Germany, a lot of it by starvation and disease brought on by the war.

Prophet muhammad didn't marry aisha for lust he married her for educating her about islam to pass it since she would be his wife she could learn everything from him and could continue to pass it on since she was young, she had a strong memory and was his closest companion's daughter so thats why also. Shes one of the four people who transmitted more than two thousand sayings, without her half of understanding of islam would have perished.
Also he married Aisha in contract when she was twelve and she did not live with him as husband and wife until she was over fifteen.

I didn't know knowledge was sexually transmitted, back then. Well, you learn something new every day.

Where do you draw the line between "legitimate civilian targets" and terrorism?

The Thirty Year War had been such a traumatic experience for the Germans that even centuries later, my dad had passed stories down to me about cannibalism that had followed the war.
