Russia won't declare war on you.
ISIS would only be able to reach you through suicide bombers but their priority is taking over the middle east anyway.
There won't be any new civil war in the US.
It's not like you're living near danger within few miles
Yes, do calm down and watch some soothing TV, like Dancing with the Stars ....
Funny, we have this program too.

As a historian, I can't recall any other time in history when a group like ISIS existed. A group that hates everyone, wants to kill everyone, and doesn't care whether they survive or not. Their behavior is insane, and crazy people are coming from all over to join them. It reminds me of lemmings. I wonder whether there is some circumstance or set of circumstances occurring in the world that is pushing people towards self-destruction. Is it politics, culture, the media, over-population, global warming, financial inequality, or what? It's too simple just to blame everything on religion - religion has been around for hundreds of years, yet this mass insanity is a new phenomenon.
I think it is partly religion, and parly hooliganism. Modern society is extremely boring for young men. Same reason why people pick fights with police, they are bored out of their mind. Hooligans also know what they are doing is going nowhere, yet they still pick fights with other hooligans or with police. I get a massive kick out of seeing riots on tv (but I'm smart enough to do the decent thing, I know it is wrong).
Remember the riots in England a few years ago? Made no sense, people were starting fires, looting stores, fighting the riot police, and people kept joining just for kicks. Something similar happened in the Netherlands in Germany, people invited each other via social media and they do stupid things like breaking a window and stealing a can of soup worth 1 euro as seen on the security cameras.
Oh, this is not a historical parrallel to ISIS, but to hooliganism: in Constantinople they used to have chariot races, and I think they had three different teams, and they had riots on this, and it even divided politicians.
ISIS are the new barbarians, when a society gets decadent corrupt and weak, some barbarians come along to take advantage of that.
If you live in Europe you are pretty much surrounded by Muslims who want their religion put into Europe's legal system.
The only reason Sparta was able to survive the hordes was because it wasn't decadent.

Not really going to happen, Muslims are pretty much the most hated minority in Europe. Can't imagine Islam becoming popular in the continent of beer and pork sausages.

They have lots of children so they wont be the minority for much longer.
If you want to know what will happen when they are the majority just look at what happens to Christians and atheists in Muslim majority countries

New generations are losing their religion faster than they reproduce. Same happens with the Calvinist Christians who also have lots of children, but their % of population is not growing either. In the Netherlands some 25% of people believe in God (that includes mostly Christians, and some Muslims/Hindus/whatever).
I'm more worried about the US and religion there, Evangelicals often have a fairly loose connection with reality. Very different from Christians over here.

A more innocent expression of crowd psychology is probably singing together, people like to sing along in choirs, or in football stadiums.
And despite their BS message some of Hitler's speeches were rhetorically strong. I remember seeing a speech during a documentary and he said something like "The other political parties accuse us of wanting to suppress them, ban newspapers and ban unions! AND THEY ARE RIGHT, WE WILL BAN ALL OF THEM!! !" turning the accusation around into a source of pride and drawing cheers from the crowd. The real speech was a bit longer but this is sort of what he said in German.

He was a brilliant rhetor, perhaps one of the best ever. He decided to use his talent to try to restore Germany, conquer the world, and kill everyone he considered defective... what a waste.

Nah...Dancing with Stars would bore me and I don't even have t.v, just netflix and internet but I can always keep calm and watch House still somewhere in season 5 I belive I never did get the chance to watch the episodes in order consistently when the show was actually having new episodes on t.v. Also though ISIS is hardly the only source of danger, I do not really have a fear of encountering them but they sure don't help things in the world.
