It's like shooting fish in a barrel ... for not complying with your order to climb a tree.

It seems more blacks get killed by police for not obeying orders than whites. That's what pisses people off.

What if it's because more whites are more apt to follow the police's instructions.

Edit: Left-out a word.

Or maybe, cops just assume blacks are all potential violent criminals. I'm sure there are more than enough white yahoos who don't cooperate with the police, either. Difference is, most whites, regardless of following orders or not, don't get shot nearly as often.

Why is it that every time something like this happens an innocent person winds up dead? Would it not be more prudent to take non-lethal action to subdue a suspect where the person does not become another victim of ill-minded use of force?

You'd think.

This is something that even my mom has mentioned about using non lethal tactics yet, such fails to be pursued for some unknown reason.

Saw this story and I'm still sick to my stomach. We have a huge problem with police in this country. The man was unarmed and after they shot him, they left him there to die. No criminal actions against the police woman who fired the shot. If this isn't criminal I don't know what is. Seems to me police are the hugest criminals in this country.

She's been charged with first-degree manslaughter.

Just now saw it on the news. Too bad it isn't first degree murder.

Police officers commit domestic abuse at a higher rate than the general public. Anyone interested can look up the statistics for themselves.

Of course those who prefer fantasy over reality will deny the link between abusive personalities, police brutality, and unjustified killings until the day the Earth freezes over and all life ceases to exist.

The only thing unusual about this case is that it was woman doing the shooting.

Yup--there is a reason why police officer is one of the top 10 professions in which you are more likely to find psychopaths (some of the others being CEOs, surgeons, lawyers, and clergy). The authority it grants over other people, and the opportunities for abuse of that authority, is a big draw for the sort of sick person that enjoys exploiting interpersonal power dynamics (which is a favourite activity of psychopaths who are chronically understimulated--it's one of the only ways they can achieve a "buzz" of feeling, by dominating someone else.)
