No, Trump was reviled because he demonized a whole religion and wanted to ban them from coming to our country, because he used code words like "illegal aliens" to attack all Latinos, and with hand-in-glove courted the most deplorable racists with using their memes and lies, and by making use of the alt right, which has somehow gained some sort of half respectability. His not being beholden to anyone has nothing to do with it. But I'll tell you something: the racist right certainly thinks Trump is beholden to them, now, and will expect something for their support.

All this wild stuff is interesting. But I think the bottom line is that for a secretary of state, Clinton was seen as acting very careless regarding emails. Just the fact that the FBI got involved made her look bad. And from what I understand, she outright lied about it early on, which reminded people too much of Bill Clinton lying about his involvement with Monica Lewinsky.

Hillary should look in the mirror. After consorting with Wall Street scum, cheating in the primaries, insulting Trump supporters and neglecting key states she and the DNC have nobody to blame but themselves.

the whole thing with her campaign being run by an algorithm called Ada is just straight up bizzare, props for the Ada Lovelace reference at least. The candidate accused of being too robotic literally had robot run her campaign, you can't make this **** up. She must of really bought into that Nate Silver "data driven" BS apparently, can't believe they actually made decisions that way. Hillary basically ran her campaign with a magic 8 ball.

X2

To their credit, this is what most if my to the left of Marx liberal friends are saying, even smacking down the centrists trying to blame the whole thing on racists and the FBI. I do have to laugh a bit at their new found enthusiasm for seceding though, that's a bit tough to swallow after years of mocking Texas whenever the subject has come up. Ditto for the electoral college, congressional obstructionism, checking executive power, etc.

Forgive me, but... you have liberal friends? I thought you hated all of us.
If you want to get them to calm down, remind them that four years is not an eternity.

I'm a lifelong Seattleite Bill, if I didn't have liberal friends, I wouldn't have friends at all. I don't hate liberals, they just annoy the crap out of me, as I've said many times. The high school I went to was an alternative one called NOVA, where all the school meals were vegan and the social studies teacher repeatedly ran for state congress on the Green ticket, when he wasn't indoctrinating his students in socialist politics that is. I'll have to dig through some photos of the WTO protests in Seattle one of these days and post some here, most of my Facebook feed can be seen getting arrested or screaming at the cops. Ever wonder why I'm strangely informed on liberal politics for someone who doesn't care for them?

The line of succession would be Pence and then Ryan; that a dream or a nightmare for you?

Yes, that's to whom I was referring.

I totally agree, that they brought it on themselves----they thought they had it in-the-bag, because they allowed themselves to be taken-in by the media, who said she was leading in almost every poll. She's got an ego as big as Texas, TOO----the difference between her and PE Trump, though, is that he knew better than to rest on his laurels.

Really?

Whatever gets you through the day, HillBill.

This is like Romney blaming his loss on that he should have tweeted more.

I'm a Democrat, voted for HillBill, but I hate her. I hate Pence more so she got my vote.

Hardly a ringing endorsement.

I, admittedly, would rather go hungry than eat a vegan lunch. :eew:
Fair enough, but I do recall you saying, probably in a fit of rage, that you hated liberals. I've posted things I've hardly meant while pissed off, so I'll give you a pass.
As a matter of fact, I am as well exposed to people from the other side of the political spectrum. A large number of people in my church, most of whom I genuinely like, are very conservative, for the simple reason that religious institutions usually attract more conservative individuals. That, and many of them are business professionals, making their conservative views all the more insufferable. Add to that, while my wife and I are locally born with generational connections to the Pacific Northwest, many of my church members are Midwestern transplants, having brought their red state opinions with them.
As for your following post: I seriously doubt Trump is going to win a second term, let alone be followed by Pence and that little weasel from the House. Unlike Rush Limbaugh wishing Obama to fail, I'm not so vindictive as to hope for Trump to fail, as that would mean the whole country would suffer. The fact that he would hold on to a great degree of Obamacare has relieved much anxiety for me, as has his promise not to interfere with marriage equality. But then, he had to include Bannon in his White House appointments, giving alt right racism a place at the table, making me anxious again.
Before you poke fun at me for feeling anxious about Bannon, eighteen trans Americans had taken their own lives following Trump's victory. My daughter's Godfather, who is engaged to a trans lady, literally had to take his gun out of her hand and hide the bullets. Trump would not have inspired such despair and sheer terror in the hearts of so many Americans who have been allowed to come out from the margins only in the last eight years, were it not for his association with the likes of Steve Bannon and the alt right.
