Did you not read what I wrote, because your answer suggests skimming?
Don't be distracted by the Nurse; shell keep screaming Obama and Clinton til the end of time.

I'm not saying Trump doesn't have the capacity to cause harm but dictatorship is a different monster. I just read Andrew Jackson's biography and was chilling.

I think dictatorship is both his and Bannon's goal. I hope you are right and that the mechanisms are in place to prevent this, but greater republics have fallen. Don't think bad things can't happen just because you're witness to them.
Even if the worse does by some amazing chance happen everything is not lost. In ever regime their is always a fundamental agent of change, the human struggle. If people find they are failing in this new system it is within their nature to try and change it. Because of this every dictatorial regime in human history has never been able to survive, despite what level of control they have instituted.

True, but they can do a lot of damage. I hope we don't enter into another dark age and lose all the technological knowledge we've accumulated.

Nixon's drug policies are still around, it doesn't give me much hope for this new round of nonsense.

We never know. Sometimes this pain is good you live in Canada which is a great country for times like this.

Sometimes I like it that Trump is president. If Hillary Clinton became president all we would have is gridlock in congress. Now that Trump is president and has chance of screwing up its makes it all the more likely that they'll be a backlash.

It's not an unusual event for the WH to have private briefings, private interviews are normal and reporters collaborate both formally and informally in getting the WH side of the story into the mix.

It is unusual in context. The current WH has declared that the media have declared war on them, so whoever started it, they are seeing it as a war. Obama criticized Fox News, but Fox News have admitted that no one should rely on their opinion programs to accurately depict the facts. They explicitly consider them entertainment programs as far as the courts are concerned, at least.

Trump et. al. have also flatly disputed the accuracy of unnamed sources. That is, with the exception of the sources whom they send out namelessly. It's completely obvious in their case; all administrations do it and they just do it more badly, as usual. Currying favor with obviously biased outfits while denying access to mainstream outlets who took more or less care with attributions sends a message.

Obama also had personal sit downs with Fox News entertainers a number of times throughout his tenure. Let's see Trump go on Morning Joe. Ha!
