That's thoughtful of you.

I figure we all need a break from whatever now and then. In other cases one isn't necessary.

The Atlantic: How Trump’s Defenders Are Inadvertently Indicting Him. The strongest excuse for the president is that he had no idea what he was doing and unintentionally blurted out classified information—which isn’t very reassuring.

Quote:
But in their rush to defend Trump from these dark intimations, some of his defenders offered an account of his actions that may be even more disturbing. Regardless of whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia—a question the FBI and others are investigating—early indications were that Trump’s disclosure to the Russians was not a calculated choice but rather an unintentional error. A president who has little understanding of what is classified or why it matters, blurting privileged information willy-nilly, is a dangerous prospect.

Very little reassures me, nowadays. Leaks do, to an extent.

It is reassuring that there are people who still care about the institution of government.

Trump scares me though. I think he is the real thing. Like Genghis Khan and Alexander. I suppose this was inevitable though. We are lucky in a sense that we get to witness such a person against the institutions of democracy. Interesting times.

You live in California right? I hear you guys are very Liberal and are undermining some of the President's effects. What is it like there?

It was Israeli intelligence.

New York Times: Israel Said to Be Source of Secret Intelligence Trump Gave to Russians

I wonder what they think of this disclosure.

Mossad is not stupid. This was probably disinformation.

I've moved to Oregon, which has also resisted. I'm happy to have Ron Wyden as my senator. California is to Trump as Texas was to Obama.

True.

Another question: How will Trump's base respond to this?

Have you ever heard of the Cascadia Independence Movement? I think it could be good. I have family in B.C. and I keep feeling drawn there.

Israel and Russia have good relations now that have been growing stronger & stronger, Russia actually just recently recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, something Trump has promised to do as well. There is over a million Russian immigrants and their descendants in Israel.

I looked up Cascadian Secession, but it seems unlikely.

I bet, what with the atrocities committed against Russian Jews by the Nazis. Many of them must have been displaced and ended up in Israel.

Maybe in a couple of hundred years.

Israel is a friend, whereas Russia is not. That alone should satisfy anyone not a blind partisan that Trump had majorly screwed up.

Why all this love for Russia? Putin has never, ever had America's best interests at heart.

Lack of fear, paranoia and hatred doesn't add up to love. It sounds more like they believe Putin is out to get us. The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming! And Trump is in collusion with them! Where's McCarthy when we need him? We need a Spanish Inquisition!

And look, people and the press are totally flipping out over something Trump did again, for the umpteenth time. And they're predicting and or calling for his impeachment again, for the umpteenth time. The constant hype and hysteria day after day, week after week, month after month.

Most people not freaking out over Russia, thinking it's the 1950's again, just think it's better to be on as good of terms as possible with Russia. As possible. Not in love with, not united with, not married too... just to be on good terms with them as possible.

And it's like the response to that is, NOOOO! They're our enemy! They've always been our enemy! They always will be our sworn enemy! They are out to get us!

It's really the sort of paranoiac fear I'd expect from "rednecks".

Do you realize that that paper is a liberal rag? They get off on lying about Trump.

They're cashing in big time on continual mass hysteria.
