China, not Russia, is the US's biggest adversary. They are threatening the dominance and economic hegemony of the United States. They've even started trading oil futures in gold and yuan, a direct threat to the petrodollar.

China are also building artificial islands in the South China Sea to try and lay claims to the region as a way of controlling sea trade.

The US and others consider the area to be international water, but China see it as theirs.

Russia is a bigger adversary to Europe.

Also, let's stick to reality. NATO has been marching around Russia's borders even after the Cold War ended.

Yeah, that's their job.

It's not meant to be. It there to counter the Soviet Union, which imploded over 25 years ago.

Their weapons and expansionist desires still exist. Obviously. They annexed Ukraine. I believe Putin wants to rebuild the empire.

Good luck with that appeasement, Mr. Chamberlain, I'm not afraid of killing Russians if we have to. They are not our friends.

Edit: I really don't want to kill Russians. Russian soldiers are just as much victims of Putin as Alexander Litvinenko. But the human shield strategy on their part is protecting a sinister agenda.

They have every right to acquire weapons given the endless threats and moves by NATO. There was a referendum in Crimea, they didn't annex Ukraine. Sorry but we can't risk WWII because of your beliefs.

Can't just bring up Hitler every time you want to attack another country. You appease your own country's war mongering.

Litvinenko was killed by Putin's enemies. Boris Berezovsky had traces of polonium in his office and home. https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2006/nov ... a.politics

I apologize, they haven't annexed Ukraine yet.

Do you really think NATO is a threat to Russia? Threats of WWIII go both ways, we shouldn't be intimidated and allow Russia to do whatever they want without consequences just because they have nukes.

Fake news, comrade.

NATO is a threat to Russia. It's there to keep tensions that are good for the arms industry. It's the US/NATO that is the global gangster.

It's not fake news. It's right there in The Guardian. A decent paper before it was turned neocon. The fake news is that is was carried out by Putin. Same as the novichok sham.

Of course this is what Russia wants. The OP is being disingenuous when he suggests this proves Trump isn't Putin's puppet. If anything, it seals the coffin, as this frees Putin to rebuild his nuclear arsenal without treaty hindrance.

Trump is cosying up to the neocon war mongers. This is for the US, not Russia. Russia spends as much on defense in a year as Trump increased for a year. It's the US who pulled out. It hurts Russian people, who pretty much all want good relations with the US and money spent on them, not nukes.

Intelligence revealed how the Russians were violating the treaty agreements. This is Trump's present to Putin wrapped with a huge red bow.

Yeah right. Like 'intelligence' showed Iraq was tied to Al Qaeda and had mobile weapons labs. US intelligence agencies at the top just lie about everything

No they don't. They tell the truth to the president and his minions, who then lie about everything.

They lie about everything. They are the most harmful organisations to the country. Always supporting terrorists and destroying other countries.

If they are, then Putin is cut from the exact same cloth. As a KGB spymaster, he was responsible for the most reprehensible murders, dirty tricks, and lies.

What's the alternative? No intelligence doesn't seem practical.
