Keen observation on the effectiveness of walls
Or we could pretend it will do what the fencing and border agents were put in place to do before 2017.
Didn't the wall become a fence?
Like I've said I was never in favor of a wall. But I think it's silly to pretend there wasn't already all that fence and border patrol. And that trying hard to keep people out didn't exist before trump.

So you're saying the Obama administration was trying hard to keep brown people out.
Lets keep pretending that people are saying a fence or wall will completely stop border crossings while they are actually saying it will reduce border crossing. Since when does doing absolutely nothing help reduce a problem? A reduction is beneficial, lets stop pretending it isn't. I'm 100% for the wall.

I still wonder whatever happened to Trumps claim 'Mexico will pay for it?' when did it become 'you american citizens will pay for the wall and I'll use all the countries emergency funds for things like natural disasters and terrorist attacks to also pay for it.

8% for border security, 8% of one year's military funds will pay for the entire wall to reduce a problem.
Just think of it like this, you have $100 for the week, spending $8 dollars will greatly reduce the amount of people able to freely walk into your home for as long as that new locking system exists and functions, while you continue to live on through the many weeks to come, not having to spend that $8 dollars again for a long time.

But Trump said Mexico would pay for it....what about that?
Also most illegal immigrants don't cross the border illegally and come through proper check-points, most have just overstayed their visas...how does the wall solve that?

I don't know what happened to it, Mexico didn't want to pay for it, to me that doesn't take away from the fact that we need it. It most certainly wasn't from a lack of trying to get mexico to pay for it. It's no real issue to mexico because people aren't fleeing to mexico from america.

Why do we need something that will destroy tons of habitat in the Rio Grande and other areas along the border, when most illegal immigrants don't even illegally cross the border?
That said, so basically Trump supporters are ok with him lying to them?

It isn't a lie when you try to do as you said yet fail because of lack of support. That is attempting do as you say yet failing, he is still trying to get the wall built regardless. That also insists that just because someone appreciates action being taken to build a wall, that everyone who agrees with it is a die hard Trump fan.
Also, Name one president who has never lied or has completed everything they promised when running for president.
It's not going to destroy a habitat, it's a fence/wall, and portions of it already exist. It's mostly a freaking desert.

Um, the desert IS a habitat. Animals and insects and birds live there. Plants grow there. They have to be specially adapted to survive harsh conditions, but it's still a habitat that supports life.
From Wikipedia: "Terrestrial habitat types include forests, grasslands, wetlands and deserts."

I understand all of that already. The habitat is not going to collapse due to a fence being put up, fences, homes, cities & highways are built all over the planet. To point directly to a border fence and insist it will ruin the habitat is simply another tactic to suggest we shouldn't have a wall at the border. With that line of thinking, humans shouldn't build anything.
