This white-shaming crap only occurs amongst academics who always have their nose in books.
They don’t hang out with very many actual people.
That's a gross over generalization. Shıt happens. Read the article referenced by the OP.

It's not just Georgia. You just happen to live there. It's the whole Western world. Europe and anywhere else Europeans have settled and become the predominant culture.
Well the whole American south gets to be the scapegoat for all the racism in the USA because of the whole slavery thing. But like I said, white-shaming ain't going to solve the issues of racism. If anything it makes racism worse.
I've noticed similar among my countrymen; just like Yankees want to focus on Southern racism, Canadians often like to talk about American racism, so they don't have to discuss or consider Canadian racism.
For what it's forth, we find it in the political sphere too. Historically left-leaning parties weren't willing to risk condemning and distancing themselves from white nationalist/white supremacist types who expressed support for left-populist ideology and positions. The radical left was more likely to condemn those sorts, thankfully, but it was just one of many issues that put them outside the window so to speak. While it's true that for the most part people of that mindset no longer identify with left-wing politics people should understand that it wasn't always such a polarized issue and that we're only a few generations removed from that situation.
It might be comforting to condemn monsters that you don't have to feel any identification with, but it's more useful and honest to start with the ones closest to you.
