Where are we going with this, antiabortion states prohibiting their workers from doing business with San Francisco, New York City banning their workers from doing business with states and localities that voted for Trump?

I guess if you are rooting for a depression to make sure Trump does not get reelected that might work(SMH).

It's behaving like a country putting economic sanctions on a foreign power.

Local governments shouldn't be waging economic war on other parts of the country! Especially when those other parts of the country aren't doing them any harm!

We have forgotten one very important thing: Unless Roe v. Wade is overturned, which is extremely unlikely, the abortion restrictions can't be enforced in the states that have them.

And Brett K hasn't been as hard-right in his rulings as many were anticipating.

I can't even imagine what that would look like!

It's kinda like trying to imagine a Nazi flag with a peace sign where the swastika would be -- it just doesn't seem right somehow.

The internet can help you with that. You can find simply a rainbow confederate flag, and there are some other interesting examples, such as this:

Just needs a rainbow hammer and sickle in the middle as well.

I have to give you credit for that one, Drake. That's hilarious.

If you think about it a bit more carefully, you might figure it out.

Would you prefer I didn't think you could figure it out even if you thought about it more carefully?

No matter how you frame what you said, you come away either as an authoritarian, lacking principles or both. But you are of course free to associate as you like, though you saying I'm misunderstanding you and putting words in your mouth whilst offering no clarification or contradiction suggests that I'm actually correct and you're just not ready to defend your position.

Have a good day.

Oh, I misunderstood you. But I still think that the civil war policy is relevant as a question of are we on the verge of having history repeat itself.

Feels that way, doesn't it?

People think those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. That is incorrect, people are doomed to repeat history regardless if they ignore it or not. There are some things about human nature that you just can't fix. :|

Sure, if you don't like the laws in another state, ask for voluntary boycotts; but legislating people's behavior on moral grounds smacks of religious conservatism, even though San Franscisco's government is protesting anti-abortion laws.

SF is not religiously conservative, neither is this action.

This a protest of policy, not people. God, you people are hysterical.

People who go on the Supreme Court have a tendency towards moderating their previous viewpoints----whether conservative or liberal.

This action shows that SF takes seriously the threat to the right of women to choose. If certain states are going to try to undermine the Constitution to deprive women of this right, then other localities have a right to protest and not do business there. The states in question need to fix their laws and quit undermining the Constitution, not bellyache about something SF chose to do.
