Trump pardons war criminal
Any crime is OK in a war situation?
And all war criminals are heroes, to be invited to a round at our personal golf course?
Where have I ever indicated that I was protecting that war criminal in any way?
Please cut and paste where you think I did.
Premise 1: Jumping to conclusions is human,
Premise 2: You are human,
Ergo,
Conclusion: You are a jumping human.
Please,
I will only allow misrepresentation from my friends.
<wave at Kortie>
BTW,
I don't find you that a-peeling these days.
However, (from article) "In July, he was acquitted of murder by a military jury".
He was hired to kill enemy combatants in battle. Not murder surrendered children and then use the corpse for a selfie. Such a person is actually a menace to decent society. Of course trump enjoys the company of such "fine" people.
Erm...
That is a "slanderous" (libellous) misrepresentation, surely.
"Credibility", moit,
Consider your "Credibility", for goodness sakes.
Oh, you were joking?
Forget what I said.
I luv a good laugh, as you may have noticed.
I am fairly sure the American GIs who liberated Nazi death camps didn't go into nearby German towns and summarily execute Nazi youth in retribution (and they would have had more reason than Gallagher).
In the invasion of Normandy, young SS/AHJ soldiers (some children) were given to the Polish troops who accompanied (was part of) the allied army.
These soldiers/children were terrified of the Polish, for obvious reasons, and begged not to be given to them.
The same sort of thing happened in "Eisenhower's Death Camps".
Soldiers with a "cultural grudge" were often recruited to be the prison guards.
There was an unwritten policy for "despatching" P.O.W.s in some instances during the Normandy invasion, because the allies couldn't afford the manpower to keep them prisoner.
At other times it was pure revenge.
When the Germans did the same thing in "The Battle of the Bulge" it was big news.
Not so much at Normandy.
Part of "The Spoils of Victory" is the ability to re-write history or to simply ignore it.
Also:
The issue of war crimes is an incredibly sensitive one. But, in this case, the evidence is overwhelming.
Given the high number of casualties they suffered, Allied paratroopers were particularly determined to exact bloody revenge. Near one village, Audouville-la-Hubert, they massacred 30 captured Wehrmacht soldiers in a single killing spree.
Anzeige
On the beaches, soldiers in an engineering brigade had to protect German prisoners from enraged paratroopers from the 101st Airborne Division, who shouted: "Turn those prisoners over to us. Turn them over to us. We know what to do to them." https://www.spiegel.de/international/wo ... 92037.html
And it goes on, and on, and on, and on...
Oh, the magnificence of humanity.
I hope I get to post this before the thread is closed.
P.S.
I believe this qualifies as an "Inconvenient Truth"?

You know what I mean, Pepe.
What is the point in taking such pains to point out that war crimes have happened before, as if it's a fact of life?
As if to imply that we should be accepting of them?
Or for what reason?
And apologies for being a bit brusque before, it's because I don't find war crimes to be a matter to joke about, and I felt you'd taken it too far. That one was not funny, my friend.
Perhaps what Pepe was saying is that war crimes usually consist of the victimization of civilians on a large scale.
As opposed to a soldier killing a terrorist. ISIL terrorists have done far more horrific things than take a selfie with a dead enemy. But now we are supposed to feel sorry for ISIL terrorists and view our own soldiers as monsters. Progressive backwards thinking continues to evolve.

It’s disgusting but not surprising that a deplorable human being would pardon the crimes of another deplorable human being.
We can only hope that via whatever means, whether impeachment, being voted out, heart attack or otherwise that trump is out of office ASAP and the USA can begin it’s very long healing journey both internally and internationally.
In the meantime, it’s s**t like this, over and over and over again that has the entire world give America the “WTF?” side-eye.

The only crime is the guy appeared with his platoon in a photo with a dead body.
As platoon leader, he should know better.
The Navy seemed to go way overboard, to demote him, take away his Seal trident, imprison him.

I had not gotten around to looking to see if the photo was available. It is about what I figured it would be. I don't know why it is being described as a selfie. Like he took a picture of himself posing with the corpse like a Weekend At Bernie's type thing.

I kinda doubt he was saying it was okay that his mother was raped and kept as a sex slave.
He was executed for his crimes,
So my mother told me.

It should be apparent it's an extrajudicial killing of a 17 year old who posed no threat which at best is psychopathic....would not want Gallagher working anywhere near children....he seemed rather satisfied and not remorseful for his deed

A military jury found him not guilty of murder.
You keep repeating the same thing.

It's just another indicator of the current political climate that Trump would pardon a person like this who his own troops think is evil. Like attracts like I suppose....
In Australia we have special forces called the SAS. Our most decorated SAS soldier Ben Roberts-Smith was awarded the highest honor (Victorian Cross) for his services to the SAS (unlike Gallagher his fellow SAS troopers admire him).
However scratch the surface and like Gallagher there was some psychopathic tendencies that came out
https://www.theage.com.au/national/ben- ... 52pys.html
He;s now been called a murderer.
Roberts-Smith is now under investigation for wartime actions and since coming back to civilian life has been violent to women
https://www.smh.com.au/national/woman-s ... 50hlb.html
It's not a coincidence and I wonder how long before Gallagher turns into a violent psychopath toward people in civilian life. I can see a future headline "Soldier pardoned by Trump kills his wife"
